Know its usually Depression's job to make these threads but I couldn't help it. I'm very excited bout this years playoffs and it starts tomorrow :) I think its going to be just as unpredictable as last seasons. Lots of newcomers.

East
(8) Orlando Magic vs. (1) Detroit Pistons
I think the Magic are going to be a badass team down the road but they went downhill after the break this year, Pistons sweep. I'm glad Webb is doing good there.

(7) Washington Wizards vs. (2) Cleveland Cavaliers
Poor Gilbert, he could of made this an interesting series. Cavs Sweep, they would of won anyway though.

(6) New Jersey Nets vs. (3) Toronto Raptors
Nets are not nearly as good as they were last year. Bosh is gonna rip it up, Raptors in 6

(5) Chicago Bulls vs. (4) Miami Heat
If Wade can stay healthy I can see Heat winning in 7, but if he gets knocked out Bulls can take it. Chicago's no joke, they have 5 shooters, they don't have to drive to Shaq to win.

West
(8) Golden State Warriors vs. (1) Dallas Mavericks
GS have the Kings to thank for this ^_^ I think they can get 1, their not a pushover but I see Mavs taking it in 5.

(7) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (2) Phoenix Suns
Lakers have actually digressed since last season(Kobe exception), they are bad. Honestly I think the Warriors can take them. LA needs to look for something in the off, Smush and Kwame straight suck. When Kobe can put up 60 and still lose theirs something really ****ed up there. Suns sweep.

(6) Denver Nuggets vs. (3) San Antonio Spurs
I'm pulling for Denver in 7, can't stand the Spurs. AI and the Punk are finally becomming the big hoohah that everyone thought they would be.

(5) Houston Rockets vs. (4) Utah Jazz
Rockets in 5, Houston is the dark horse. Yao's having a career year even after coming back. Him & Mcrady are reaching their potential.

Finals Pick :Suns Vs Cavs ;)
Think its the Suns year & yes we will bare witness to the global icon taking his team to the Finals single handedly.

Suns aren't getting past Spurs/Mavs in 7.

Pistons in 4
Cavs in 4
Raps in 6
Heat in 6

Mavs in 6
Suns in 4
Spurs in 6
Rockets in 7

I'll take your layout and fill in my blanks.

East
(8) Orlando Magic vs. (1) Detroit Pistons
Far too early for the Magic but think they can get one win at home. Detroit in 5 games. I'm also very happy for Webber. He's been one of my favorite players ever since he entered the league and I'm a big fan of Billups and Hamilton.

(7) Washington Wizards vs. (2) Cleveland Cavaliers
It's a damn shame this series is going to be as exciting as watching paint dry... I really would have liked to see a rematch from last year especially because of how things ended. Oh well. Cavs sweep.

(6) New Jersey Nets vs. (3) Toronto Raptors
I'm thrilled both of these teams are playing one another. I might be pretty good but it's more because I don't like either team. Uh... Nets win with experience in 7.

(5) Chicago Bulls vs. (4) Miami Heat
This one is going the distance. The Bulls always play well against the champs but I have to give the edge to Miami. There is no way they lose in the first round. Their record hasn't been that great since the return of Wade but that's to be expected. Heat in 7.

West
(8) Golden State Warriors vs. (1) Dallas Mavericks
This is a very interesting series because of the storyline going in with the coach and the Warriors apparently having the Mavs number. But the playoffs are a completely different beast. Warriors might be able to sneak in a win. Mavs in 5 but stranger things have happend.

(7) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (2) Phoenix Suns
Luke and Lamar need to play well. Kobe will be Kobe but he needs these two guys to step it up big. I'd love for this series to be half as good as it way last year. It's just tough with the Lakers blowing at the end of the season and Amare being back. *thinks* Suns in 5.

(6) Denver Nuggets vs. (3) San Antonio Spurs
COME ON DENVER! The Nuggest have a hard time winning if they don't score atleast 100 points and the Spurs aren't the easiest team to do that against... But out of the elite 3 in the west the Spurs have the hardest first round. Spurs will win in 6.

(5) Houston Rockets vs. (4) Utah Jazz
*Thinks back to 1994* Lets go Utah! Will Tmac finally get out of the first round? The Jazz didn't end the season on a good note. *blames sir Charles* but this is probably the most even first round series. I think Houston will win but it's going to be a dog fight.

Finals Pick : ??? I really have no clue.

Edit - I don't even want to know what Mark Cuban will do if the Mavs don't win this year. I heard he pretty much didn't leave his house much for a month after the finals last season. He didn't return phone calls and was considering selling the team... He might have a nervous breakdown. With that being said I wish the Knicks had an owner like him instead of a jackass who only cares about making money.

East
(8) Orlando Magic vs. (1) Detroit Pistons
Detroit. Not even going to explain myself.

(7) Washington Wizards vs. (2) Cleveland Cavaliers
Not just Gilbert, Caron was the only forward averaging 20 points and 8 reb in the East I think? Something like that, he was playing at an extremely high level. Cleveland should be able to take it on cruise control and be rested up for the 2nd round.

(6) New Jersey Nets vs. (3) Toronto Raptors
I actually like the Nets here. Kidd, RJ, Carter all have the post season experience. Raptors are going to go through some growing pains. Mikki Moore has stepped it up. And how could we not mention the biggest issue of this series, Air Canada (Carter) himself facing off his former team in which he left on such a bad note. Carter is coming in HOT. Averaging about 30 ppg, 7 reb 7 ast 2 treys in the month of april.

(5) Chicago Bulls vs. (4) Miami Heat
The Heat should worry about Wade getting healthy before staying healthy. Not only is his shoulder still nowhere near what it needs to be for him to take it to the rim and draw fouls, he is also going through knee tendinitis at the moment. Bulls can take it, but the Heat have been stepping up even in Wade's absence. I expected them to fall out of the race but Shaq has been huge.

West
(8) Golden State Warriors vs. (1) Dallas Mavericks
Dallas hasn't won a game against GS all season. I don't expect GS to win the series but I think we'll goto 6 at least. Think of it as LA/PHX last season. Nobody expected anything from LA but they gave the Suns fits.

(7) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (2) Phoenix Suns
Plagued by injuries all season long they haven't been able to get any type of rythem going. Kobe is gonna have to put up 50 a night to win this series. Crazy thing is, that isn't a reach for him. Suns should take it.

(6) Denver Nuggets vs. (3) San Antonio Spurs
While they're in the 6th seed, I think Denver could be a top 3 seed. We have yet to really know where this team stands as Melo/AI have just begun gelling together and their team has been on a roll. No less than a 4 seed if they got a full season together playing with their newfound chemistry. AI/Melo will do their thing, but I think this team depends on how well Nene and Camby play.

(5) Houston Rockets vs. (4) Utah Jazz
This is a first for Houston. A healthy Tmac and the "new" Yao in the playoffs. Last year in the 2nd half Yao had become what his critics had wanted, aggressive. He was averaging 30-10+ for a while there. And this year, Tmac has been for the most part healthy, and carrying the team while Yao was out. Down low presence + all court player and you have a darkhorse that could go all the way.

I really don't see the Lakers even coming close to doing what they did last year, Amare makes a massive difference.

Wallace can't guard Shaq and the bulls are to reliant on jump shooting, they have the pieces they need to make a move in the offseason and get someone who can score inside.

Woooh

Lakers are going to get swept... It's going to be Raptors vs. Suns. Mavericks always choke in the playoffs, the Spurs aren't nearly as good as the Suns with Amare, and the Pistons/Heat have no chance against Toronto. (I just like Chris Bosh)

Eastern

-Pistons will sweep Orlando.

-Cavaliers will take Washington, though I'm not too sure of a sweep. I mean, it'll pretty much be Gilbert Arenas trying to keep his team in..

-Raptor and Nets is one I really want to see. I'm thinking Raptors, but who knows?

-Chicago and Miami are also on the edge. It could be either, but only if the Heat stay healthy.

Western

-Dallas will sweep Golden State

-Phoenix will take the Lakers, though Kobe might get us to a game 6 at the most.

-Spurs and Nuggets will be a toss up. The Nuggets, my prefernece, are finally coming in to their "own", but the Spurs have time and "experience" on their side. Persoanlly, I want the Nuggets to take it.

-Houston will beat Utah. This will probably the longest series and the hardest on the teams.

but I think this team depends on how well Nene and Camby play.Bingo! Camby putting it on Duncan today, that was key though Nene had to leave. Spurs were making ALOT of mistakes though, they were playing makeup through most of it.

That game imo was a huge statement.

People knew they swept the regular season matchups but everybody thought the "playoffs" would be different. What the Warriors did tonight, may be in the back of the Mavs minds the rest of the series. That the Warriors DO have their number regular season or not.

Thats the beast Nellie created, he knows that team probably better than the one he has now. Thats the thing about his coaching, he puts each player(piece) no matter the strength into favorable positions to win, thats exactly how they got that 8th spot.
My eyes are gonna be glued to this series and the Nuggets.

The Warriors just have too many weapons. To not consider them a factor is foolish. They only lost 4 times since they've had a healthy roster. If the Mavs are going to win this, they're going to have to earn it. No two ways about it.

They got into the 8th spot because they had a healthy roster down the stretch. Before Jason and Baron got injured, they were already in playoff contention. There's no doubt in my mind that they would have at least locked the seventh seed if not for injury.

But yeah, this series and Denver definitely have my attention.

A great day of basketball. I was actually rooting for the Warriors tonight just to keep things interesting. Davis was a beast and they all played their hearts out. Stealing a game on the road against the Mavs is HUGE. Cuban looked like he was at a funeral towards the end.

The Suns/Lakers game went pretty much as I expected. Kobe was crazy in the first half. The shot he made on the curl 3 pointer over two defenders to end the 2nd was awesome. But like normal these days he gassed on a bit towards the end of the game. If the Lakers want to make anything out of this series everyone needs to be involved. Oh and Barbosa... my god, can anyone keep this guy in front of them? He lives up to his nick name.

Denver getting the first game was enjoyable. Spurs are going to make big time adjustments and this series is going to be good times.

Cavs/Wizards was so boring. The Cavs were just going through the motions when they should have went out for the kill. The Wizards players still have confidence this way... I doubt they get a win but this is not the way the Cavs should play especially at home.

Overall there was some nice drama tonight. Keep it up! Most of the games have been fun so far.

First of all, the Mavs/Warriors game: Surprising? No way! A little unexpected? Definitely. I'm glad the Mavs have to work for the W, but I still think they're going to get past this hump and move on. Yeah, there's a lot of weapons on the Warriors, but I just don't feel like their performance was indicative for the rest of their games. I really didn't expect them to lose like that, but I can't say they didn't have it coming with such shoddy performance last night.

The Suns/Lakers game was basically scripted. Turned it off at the end of the 3rd thinking, "Lakers aren't going to make it out alive again."

My biggest regret was missing that Denver game, though. :( I remember checking the highlights and actually doing a double take on the score.

Who doesn't? It also go to tell you that it's kinda bad when essentially two men make the team. And it fell apart when Shaq left.

Well, I'm going to be honest and say I haven't been watching basketball this season, but I'll be cheering on the Nets (the closest team that New Yorkers can cheer on although they're from Jersey) and the Pistons.

I'm just glad the Knicks failed to get into the playoffs. I'm really hoping that they kick Isaiah out as head coach (although I doubt. LOL Madison Square Garden politics). The Knicks are really in need of a clean sweep through the players up.

I'm not a Lakers fan nor do I hate them but I am a Kobe fan. Its been real painful to watch him struggle with this team, even though his numbers deserve MVP. People were complaining in this 1st game(throughout the season) about him not passing enough and gasing out, uhhh if he doesn't they can't win(if it all) and they get blown out, theres only so much relief Lamar & Walton can muster. They need something big in the off season.
My biggest regret was missing that Denver game, though. :( I remember checking the highlights and actually doing a double take on the score.Don't miss another, Nuggets were keeping that pace through most of the game. Mello(31) and AI(30) scored almost indentically, two dudes who can score 25+ instantly like that every game. Duncan's gotta free himself up more or their toast. IMO the Spurs are going to have it alot tougher.
Another reason I want Denver to win is so I can see them against Houston, another team who has two guys who can score 25+.

That's about right. It's a lot like how everyone hates my Yankees... though the way they've been playing, I kinda hate them, too, right now. Also, that they're a West coast team and have Kobe doesn't help, either. :P

I agree that Garnett lacked a certain spark but playing with Kobe would surely reignite it. Lakers need to make a move, by the time Bynum comes into his own (and it's a big ? mark if he does too) kobe will not be playing at the same level he is now.

Hopefully this will make the Mavs realize that just because somebody is number 8 seed, doesn't mean crap. I expect it to be over by game 5 or 6, with Mavs on top.

Gasol I could see...especially if we were able to keep Odom in the deal. As for Kobe playing at a high level, yes he is, and no he isn't. I seem to remember a time about the same time last year where he was playing at an impressive level. Averaging nearly a triple double against the Suns and playing as a team player instead of a one man show. Yes, the Lakers need Kobe to score 30 a game, what they need him to stop doing is stop taking the triple clutch, falling down, over 6 people (yes, i realize this is impossible) 3 pointers early in the shot clock. His average is impressive, what isn't, is his shot selection.

Ha. Things are definitely getting interesting.

I couldn't hear the game very well since I watched it at a bar.... but why were all those GSW players ejected? I know some of them had at least 1 foul left.

Baron got his first technical foul along with a Dallas player (name escapes me right now) when they both got into a slight confrontation. The second came from his reaction over a debatable defensive foul call late in the third. Which, to me, was nothing short of hilarious.

Steven Jackson was called for his first technical during the Baron Davis/Dallas player confrontation, a call that I strongly disagree with. As for his second, well, I suppose he spoke to the refs too many times for their liking.

Baron already had a technical, but after that mid air collision guy just lost his cool. Refs have been no BS this whole year.
Stephen Jackson, just being Stephen Jackson ^_^

You couldn't give me a viable reason why Steven Jackson was called for his first technical. He didn't do anything that was even remotely deserving of a technical foul. As for his second, that's debatable. If nothing else, he should have gotten only one technical and been allowed to play the entire game.

Golden State didn't pass the ball around well today(only 14 assists), too many guys were just trying to force up tough shots on their own rather than looking for the open man. I love how Phoenix played tonight but in the end they were just too dang tired from double teaming and rotating defenders around with their thin bench. It went seven last year. Cavs were up 3-2 and couldn't close. But it was LeBron's first time in the postseason. Also Larry only played 2 or 3 games because of his brother's death.

Also add in the coming of Sasha. He kind of disappeared in the second half tonight but that guy can shoot the trey and he's more athletic than you would think. He can drive and throw down.

NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to announce the league's new TV deal at some point during the NBA Finals this year. The preliminary information swirling around at this point has the NBA reverting back to its old home on the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) channel. NBC would obtain all the national rights that ABC has in the current NBA television deal, with doubleheaders on Christmas and New Year's Day.
