What's the worst injury or accident you've ever had?
I was in a car crash years ago we were hit from my side and spun around, I was pretty shook up afterwards but ok. As far as injuries go I broke my little finger playing Basketball about two years ago. It felt like a sharp stick had been stabbed right down it.

Messed up both my arms in a PE accident several years ago. Broke one wrist, sprained the other. The injuries themselves weren't bad, its just the combination of the two made life a living hell for the next 2-3 weeks or so.

I think it's the time I jumped from 6-7 steps stair and my face hit the floor first when I was in 2nd grade. That, or when the a car's door shut on my finger loosely. Yet it's locked and snapped tight, so I can't pull my finger out until people start notice it that I can't move. (-__-")

Worst accident I was in. Kettleman City CA on the way to Pismo Beach in a full car of 6 boy scouts (I was 14). Full size van pulls out in front of us to cross the highway. T-boned it at freeway speeds (65 MPH or there abouts). Of the boys behind me one was unable to go to school for a year, my twin brother missed almost a month, one of the boys in the back seat struck the headrest in font of him with his throat and never talked normal again. The driver struck the steering wheel and broke some bones in his face, his son rolled onto my lap and bled all over me. Of the people in BOTH cars I was the only one in a seatbelt. I walked away and went to school the next day. My only injury was my thumb was twisted some.

Wear your seatbelts kids.

Physically, perhaps the broken rib cartilage I had about 3 years ago.

But some wounds are not visible. And those last the longest- decades.

...high school, Junior year. me and NINE of my friends were speeding DOWNHILL in a Nissan Pajero. how we managed to fit 9 in a Pajero, i'll never know.

while speeding down, the driver saw that there was a kid playing in the middle of the street. he swerved, the car spun, rolled, then turn-turtled.

while hanging upside down, the driver managed to kick the windshield. this was our exit. everyone in the car was crying and screaming and kicking. someone was trying to exit the windshield and ended up kicking someone in the collarbone - and broke it. i, however, being seated in the passenger seat - just hung there. when i finally exited, i found out that i was the only one without injuries - until they x-rayed my neck.

this was like, 2 days before prom. we were all wearing neck braces. we only took em off to take have our pics taken.

Worst injury? Ummmm.... probably my lower back. I fell off a ladder while working on a second-story deck, landing directly on my back on frozen gravel, which is not the most forgiving of substances. I smashed up my lower back and couldn't walk at all for a couple of days. I couldn't walk correctly for about half a year, and it still goes out on me from time to time.

Next worst would be the time I got sideswiped by a car while on a bicycle. The front of the car pushed my left knee through the steel frame of the bike. That hurt. Didn't break my knee, but I've got some permanent damage to both the joint and the tendons, and it took a long time for that one to heal.

Then there's always the honorable mention for the lung damage caused by exposure to a variety of chemicals. Pulmonary nervous system damage is nice. I've got scars from any number of other injuries as well. I sanded all the skin off one wrist with a grinder, for example. I lost a chunk of my toe about a year and a half ago when I dropped an extension ladder on it. The list goes on and on.

Funny thing is, when I was young, I always thought I'd blow myself up with fireworks. I survived those (I still have all my fingers); it's all the OTHER stuff that's gotten me hurt over the years. Go figure.

My worst injury?
Riding done a set of steps on my bike, lost balance got flung into the air whilst still on the bike the handle bars twisted around and pierced my abdomen an inch or so above...um yeah.

I guess I've been really lucky, as I've had a few close calls.

I accidentily stabbed the center of my wrist while carving off the bark of a branch I was going to use for a perch in my bird's cage. I though I was going to bleed to death, but it turned out not to be that deep, so I put some hydrogen peroxide to clean it out and bandaged. Several nights I couldn't sleep because of the pain that pulsed in my hand if I bent it slightly. Eventually it got better, but I still have qa barely visible scar on my wrist.

I've been lucky I've never broken any bones through my younger years in school, when I did do more physical thing that could've caused accidents, such as trying to trick bike, and use my bike to jump off of high ridged sidewalks. I did wipeout one time where I did get a good chin scrap with blood and all though.

I haven't broken any bones so far, but I've come close to some real damage to muscles in some cases, since I've been a martial artist for more than a decade.

About 10 years ago, while me and my family were on vacation we decided to go by the river and go for a swim. After a while me and my brother were throwing rocks into the water next to each so we would indirectly splash each other. Well, while I was picking up the biggest rock I could hold, my brother misfired and threw his my right hand. Both the front and back of my hand were of a heavy and spread out purple for the next week, probably with a lot of internal bleeding. The upside was he got to be my slave for the next month.

My worst case probably happened about 3 years ago. I was fine all day and was about to go eat dinner until I was suddenly hit by an immense wave of pressure in my head. I had to stay still for ten minutes while barely thinking just to try to let it pass. That night was one of the worst in memory since the residual pain was keeping me awake and the four aspirin tablets I took did almost nothing. In fact, there was pressure for the next week or so. Turns out I almost had a cerebral hemorrhage right out of the blue. There is no way I'm going through that again.

Other than that, I've had a lot of close encounters with cars, but no hits yet, thankfully. Although this has turned me into a paranoid when riding my bike or when driving.

My worst injury to date was when I was bitten on the face by my puppy when I was 9. I required 13 stitches: 2 in the corner of my mouth, 6 on my upper lip, the rest on my forehead. There were also a few lesser scratches which did not require stitching. On the way to the hospital I was praying that I could get away with butterfly bandages, because I was deathly afraid of needles. I still don't like them to this day, but I'm better than I was then. Odd that I still fear them, since I have absolutely no problem with blades. The second worst injury I sustained was when the knife I was using to trim up a boneless pork loin slipped and went into my thumb. It was a nice sharp knife, too, so it went almost to the bone with no problem.

To compare the two, I screamed like a little girl with the dog bite. My first concern with the knife injury was that I was going to bleed on the customer's slab o' pig.

When I was in highschool I did work study to pay some tuition. One time I was on a chair cleaning something up high, when the chair leaned forward causing me to fall backward and basically rack myself. I couldnt walk for days and if I sit too long, my *** starts to hurt.

Also, I had a seizure one while in the laundry room at my dorm. Turns out I got up, collapsed and tackled the washer, causing a bruise from my neck to the bottom of my stomach. I also bit both sides of my tongue so hard the bled off and I lose part of the sides of my tongue.

Dislocating my knees, definitely. I've done it four times in my life. One of them it happened to three times, and the other one time. It's one of the most painful things I have ever been through and I never, ever want to go through it again. Unforunately, I am more prone to it because I am double-jointed, big-boned, and have knock-knees on top of it. Have it happen to me has made me very careful and afraid of most physical activity, especially sports. I used to love sports, but after it happened the third time, I became nervous about it happening again.
But the funny thing is, they dislocations always happened whenever I wasn't doing very rough physical activity. It happened the first time when I was around 8. I was playing with my mom, jumped on her, and fell off and it happened. The second time I was around 9 or 10. I was playing with some kids at school, and one of them jumped on me and knocked me down hard, making it happen again. The third time it happened was when I was in 5th grade. The music teacher was throwing prizes and everyone had to race to it. The first person who got it got to keep it. I got knocked over and trampled by a bunch of kids in my class, which caused it to happen again. And the fourth time, it happened for a really ridiculous reason. I was in 8th grade, and I was leaning against the wall at school and waiting for my mom to pick me up. I must have twisted my leg too far when balancing myself, because I slipped and it popped out of place. This time it happened to the opposite knee. The first three times it happened, it was on the same knee.
It sucks whenever it happens, because you know that you will have to go through an hour or so of hell before the doctors even put it back in place. I get hysterical for the entire ride in the ambulance, because a tiny little movement causes extreme pain. It's a wonder I didn't pass out.

My worst injury so far has been dislocating my knee when I was in high school. Couldn't walk right for a couple months and ended up having surgery to take out the cartledge in my knee that was torn when it happened. The runner up is when I had hot shell casings fall down the front of my body armor and get stuck there for a while. Nothing too serious, but quite amusing looking at the marks afterwards.

My worst Injury

I was about 11 or 12 years old and I was on the swings on the playground. I got pushed until it got quite fast and high. I wasn't holding the chains and I slipped off onto the Asphalt. I scraped the palms of my hands, elbows and knees. Luckly I was wearing jeans that day absorbing some of the impact. It would really sting, to clean the wounds taking a shower, and when the wind was blowing. It took me a few weeks to heal.

No broken bones, thankfully. But my right leg is pretty much going to be completley buggered in the next twenty years. So far i've had;

couple twisted ankles, sprained foot, ripped the muscle at the back of my foot, during a game of football the ligaments in my right knee decided to party at opposite ends of my body quite possibly the worst injury i've had as i couldnt walk for a good while. In ice hockey i've buggered my right shoulder, sprained my wrist after falling awkwardly, almost done the same with my foot. Dropped a concrete block onto my foot and crushed all but my pinky toe into a purple mush.

had a few burst lips and i bit my tongue when i got hooked in the jaw during a fight, i think i turned into a girl after that happened. never had a black eye thought funnily enough, which is a blessing i guess i hate pandas.

On yeah, think i broke a nail once, i was soooooo pissed.

All I can say people ye ouch!!!

My worst injury though mine is mild compare to some here. About 17 years ago I shattered my right ankle playing softball. Another player from the other team tried to slid into homebase while I jumped up in the air when I can down my right leg went under me. I didn't feel anything I thought I just sprained my right ankle badly. From what my team mates told me they heard the snap crackle and pop. After having ex-rays the Dr. told me I wasn't going to be playing any more softball for a good while I shattered the outside bone and the inside bone. Had 4 pins and a plastic plate on the outside and two pins but in on the inside of the ankle. About a year later 4 of the pins had to be removed because they had worked themselves out of the bone on the outside. I tell you having a broken bone is no walk in the park as for the nasty pain.

I guess I'm really lucky in the injury department. Only one in my family that hasn't been to the emergency room. The worse I've ever received was when my brother kicked me in the back. Tying my shoes was a ***** for the next few days. Got hit in the mouth with an aluminum bat once. When I was little, I was outside and tripped and fell. When I got up, my wrist was bleeding. Don't know what I cut myself on. Whatever it was, it left a 1-inch scar.

about a year later I ogot another one. so I took anohter hot bath, really hot, and drink about a gallon of warm water and some celery seed tea and it dilulated my kidneys enough for it to move to the bladder.
The pain during the first one was unbearable, doctor said its the next best thing afer giving birth

only a few big but not serious ones:

1. when i was little my siblings and i had a radio flyer wagon. i was inside and getting pulled along wildly by one of them then somehow it wiped out. got up, everything was fine, then we noticed all the blood on the driveway. my guess it was by the metal handle puller although there was no trace of blood on it, but somehow the underside of the joint for my right big toe had been cut practically to the bone. cried like a baby for at least 20 minutes when the doctor had to put the anesthesia needle in there to numb it for stitches.

2. a couple of years ago dad was working on his truck engine and it was sitting there in the driveway. my friend and i were moving a mattress from the garage into the house and i didn't see it coming so the mattress knocked the engine down and landed square on my right big toe, directly on the joint, and cut a huge gash. ironic eh? i took the hose and washed it for a couple of minutes before wrapping it up with some gauze. then we went inside and played Street Fighter: 3rd Strike :). i have a high pain threshold so i was basically fine except for walking right so i didn't want to waste time going to the doctor. then a couple of days later i was limping along when i carelessly didn't plant my foot right and went completely down on the toe, curling it down and hearing some cracking, and it was paralyzed for a couple of minutes. it really started to hurt after that so we went to the doctor the next day. had some x-rays done which were surprisingly normal and he was a little upset as to why i didn't go sooner. sucker kept bleeding nonstop the whole time.

3. long before that i was in a go-kart spill which resulted in my left palm and knee being scraped up. there was about a 1 x 0.5 inch chunk of flesh hanging of the middle my palm which i tried to cut off by myself but the scissors available sucked. we were in mississippi at the time so nobody really wanted to take me to the doctor until we went to iowa to visit more family a couple of days later so i had to just wrap it up with some gauze and carry on as normal. didn't stop me from driving the go-kart the next morning though! when i finally got to the doctor it was too late for stitches so he had to just chop off the skin.

4. most recently was when i went snowboarding for the first time a couple of months ago. since i'm not good enough to be able to stop right, i just ended up falling down. on one quick run i fell forward and slammed my right knee straight on the knee cap. hurt like crazy for a whole week and it's still a big pain when i crouch down and have to push up on it.

Broke my left wrist when i was 12. First dumb thought: "Hey, isnt the wrist supposed to be longer out than that?" Lets just say my hand had a nasty angle on it about 15cm before the wrist ;)

...high school, Junior year. me and NINE of my friends were speeding DOWNHILL in a Nissan Pajero. how we managed to fit 9 in a Pajero, i'll never know.

while speeding down, the driver saw that there was a kid playing in the middle of the street. he swerved, the car spun, rolled, then turn-turtled.

while hanging upside down, the driver managed to kick the windshield. this was our exit. everyone in the car was crying and screaming and kicking. someone was trying to exit the windshield and ended up kicking someone in the collarbone - and broke it. i, however, being seated in the passenger seat - just hung there. when i finally exited, i found out that i was the only one without injuries - until they x-rayed my neck.

this was like, 2 days before prom. we were all wearing neck braces. we only took em off to take have our pics taken.

you mean Mitsubishi pajero ? right ? sorry for being a bit nosy

and within the last month i slipped while coming out of an RV smacked my elbow and tore a muscle (although it took them 3 weeks to figure that out*waves fist at stupid hospitals*) and it really sucks, i just got out of my arm brace saturday and i'm still on major narcotics and not in school cause of it ^^;;

Mine wasn't that bad but it left an impression. I was riding my bike with my stepbro back during my sophomore year of high school during the summer break at which time I was working part time at the local fast food place. They had just finished paving the new road outside my house and when we got a about a block down the road my bike tire hit a catch in the new road or something and the next thing I remember I am standing in my room with my arm in gauze and a splitting headache. Apparrantly from what I am told after the bike catching onto the new road I was flung off and landed on my head and then skidded on my arm. My arm was bloody and the skin torn up from the first knuckle joint of my pinky finger up to the top of my shoulder. Needless to say it hurt a lot and on top of that once I checked the clock I realized it was 4 hours after I had the accident that I realized where I was and then my parents told me that my stepbro had brought me back and I was concious but didn't know anyone, temporary amnesia was caused by the blow to the head from the pavement and I lost about 3 hours of my life from it. I don't really remember much except the pain of not remembering my family, that stuck with me worst of all in this accident and injury. That and the next day I had to work and they put me on fry duty...Salt in my arm wounds! Ah ah ah! >_<

Some five years ago I was biking down the market when this big bike hit me sending me some 6 feet into the air. I fell so bad I get can't get up I had to be taken to the hospital. No bones snapped. I went to school the next day with my face scarred.
