One of my family members was expecting some incoming mail to come in but it didn't arrived yet; then couple hours later, I received a knock on the front door it was neighbor from across the street and the neighbor said "the United States Postal Service delivered your mail at the wrong address." Say did anybody here experience that type of problem before? & Why?

It's happened to me before, and I've also gotten other people's mail. Mailpersons are not infallible and may make mistakes, which would take care of the second part of your query.

When the difference is only a number, it's not hard to make that kind of a mistake. Think of how many letters a mail carrier delivers in his daily round, and it's hardly surprising if he mistakes 39 for 38 (for example) once or twice. If it was happening all the time, then you might have grounds to worry.

If you get a wrong delivery write wrong address on it and leave it out for the mailman. I fail to see what advise you need. If it was a package missing, well, that is why you buy insurance.

It's probably happened to anyone who's ever gotten mail for more than a year. No big deal. Just mark it as misdelivered (as Bernard said) and give it back.

Actually I have been writing to someone in the UK and I think they lost some of my packages T__T I am starting to dislike the United States Postal Service! But I have experienced the same thing Teknoman.

Is this really grounds to worry? Happens all the time...

Sucks if it happens to be a package of porn or something, but otherwise, I doubt it should matter.

I get some dude's mail all the time because his last name is similar to mine. He doesn't even live near me.

My bill for school ALWAYS gets lost in the mail. The sad part is they have my correct address in their system. My friend gets all of her bills from school, yet her address is completely wrong on the system. Oh and in my mum's house we always get other people's mail. The sad part is that the addresses, numbers, streets, city, zip code you name it, are unmistakable for ours. We got mail that was supposed to end up in Delaware some how once.

Yes it happens

Received some magazines someone Else's phone bill, cable bill, letters, I just put them back in an outgoing mailbox, and let that be that.

i get other people's mail sometimes, not a lot. if they're within 2 houses of me i just walk over there and either put it in the mailbox if they haven't collected their's yet or go straight to the door if they have. if it looks important, then i'll make sure it gets back to them, but if it's junk (which 99% of the time it is) i put it aside and just kinda forget all about it (i know it's wrong but i'd rather have them do the same for me instead wasting time/energy on throw-aways). i rarely get my mail delivered to other people, at least not anything important that i know of. a couple of days ago a book i ordered was misdelivered and the lady brought it over. first time in about a year!

You know, one of my family members didn't received my birthday invitation at all; and according to my mom, she said that "it got lost in the mail." I'm sure that's a common occurance as well. right?

It happens from time to time, yes.

My girlfriend and I get at a dozen other people mail since we live in an apartment. 1 or 2 I can understand, but a dozen people who don't change their address?!

Well, since the mail is largely hand-sorted at most non-metropolitan locations, and that sorting is done as early in the day as possible (4-6 AM)...mistakes are bound to be made.

Yeah, one time everybody who had the same number address as me (different street) all our mail went to one house...lol...or actually I think it was vice versa...everyone got different parts of this person's mail...

I received wrong mail three days in a row, which lead me to not getting any mail for three days. I'm talking about getting someones mail from 2 blocks over.

It no longer happens. They got tons of complaints including one from our house, the mailman most likely got fired.

As long as my packages/gifts/card/ or very important letters don't get delivered to someone else, I don't really care. They can have the **** mail.

I'm pretty sure you can get fired for ****ing with a lot of peoples mail.

Are you basically saying people who work for usps can do whatever they want and expect a high five at the end of the day?

Good one, that's a knee slapper.

It sure would be, if it wasn't absolutely true.

Once you're IN at the Post Office, as long as you don't get caught blatantly breaking the law, it's almost impossible to be fired. Seriously. It's the same way with municipal unions. Back when I was a Tax Assessor, as long as I didn't physically assault a taxpayer (without due cause and the appropriate paperwork filed with the Commonwealth DOR), there was almost no way I could've been removed from my position. As long as I stayed within the bounds of the law and the union contract, I was pretty much assured employment even if the entire city petitioned the administration for my removal.

I don't see what kind of advice you are looking for, other than things like this happen pretty often and it is not uncommon.
