Hi Friends!

Happy Passover to you and your families!

Mmmmm...matzo (er...matzoh to some). My mother's grandmother was Jewish, so she grew up eating those little flat...cracker things (even though...her mother converted to Catholicism when she married her father). Used to have us kids eat them as well (but we cheated, put peanut butter on them, hahaha).

Oh, I miss those days.

Yeah, I'm a Jew. It's pretty neat; the Christians have dudes that think everything's evil, Islam's got extremists, but Jews? We don't got squat. And that's GOOD.

Oh and btw they're CRAWLING all over New York. It's pretty neat.

I remember when I used to live in a Hasidic neighborhood right before Passover (and every friday when they would ask us to turn on their lights) they'd give away bread (which would otherwise be burned). That bread was soooooooooooo good.

Ridley, hate to ruin your flow but there are also extremist Jews, not many but they do exist.

Well, you will always have tacky jewelry, a deep desire to squeeze every penny to death, and Barbara.

And this wonderful representative of your people:

Thank you, Sheila. For being so...very, very Jewish.

You know how many Jewish people have ripped off my father business? So there You got thieves. No religion is 100% pure.

Anyway. What is passover celebrating? The Angel of Death that passed over Egypt and killed all the first born?

What is passover celebrating? The Angel of Death that passed over Egypt and killed all the first born?

Actually, it is a Jewish holiday in commemoration of the exodus of the Hebrews in Egypt. Yes, according to legend, spreading blood across the threshold of their homes allowed the Hebrews to escape God's plan to wipe out the first born of every Egyptian family, but Passover...I thought...was supposed to be celebrated for other reasons.

It spans the seven or eight days that the Hebrews traveled from Egypt to where Moses received the Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai.

Gahhhh! If you manage to start him on all that crap again, so help me I am coming to Oregon, and I'm bringing ALL my favourite blunt instruments. :P

Think better.

How about "Shut the hell up better!" instead? Saying "think better" is about the most patronising thing you could possibly say to anyone. Unless you want to try and top your personal best...? Saying things like that just makes you sound like a collosal jerk. You failed to show the slightest hint of support for your precious theories, so if anyone needs to think better, it's clearly you.

If you want to get back into your thread and actually try convincing Bernard, who knows a fair bit(!) about history, that you actually have some kind of point go right ahead. CrossboneGundam will suffer for it, but that shouldn't be your worry. :naughty:

Please note: All of this is because of your rude and patronising attitude, not because we happen to disgaree about the application of higher mathematics to history, or anything of that nature. It's entirely because you're acting like a jackass. I'm capable of having a discussion or debate with someone without losing my cool, but generally that only applies when they maintain at least a pretense of civility.

All that having been said.... Happy Passover, VSh. I hope you're enjoying the holiday and doing whatever it is you do in observance of the Passover. I make no pretence at having the slightest notion what that might be, but I wanted to make sure that I wish you a happy holiday, since this is a holiday thread, and I don't want to be unnecessarily rude.

The rebuttal to that is:

Don't post non-sense.

Ummmm... did I miss something here?

For all those who are celebrating Passover, I hope you and your families are spending the time together well (The good Lord knows that family get-togethers can be stressful).

As for the rest of the off-topic nonsense, keep it short or keep it out. ^_^

VSh's last topic was a rather contentious one. He is in agreement with a Russian mathematician who claims that he can prove that most of recorded history is falsified. The specifics of that theory are not worth debating here, but every time anyone criticised the methodology of the mathematician in question, VSh would reliably respond with no actual rebuttal, but simply the trolling comment "think better".

I'd offer you a link to the topic, but really I can't recommend it. If you insist, it should be easy to find in VSh's posting history.

Haha, I must admit that the thread title kinda threw me off. Happy Passover?

Maybe it's not a truly ecstatic celebration in the same way the Fourth of July is, but it certainly doesn't have to be as dour and morose as the ones I've remembered celebrating...

It is, however, a very important day to observe if you share that faith, so small recognition here isn't out of bounds, either. :)

I'm sorry to have missed the announcement that you'd been appointed a moderator. :P
We'd need less "moderators" if we first learned to moderate ourselves. ;)

Haha, no, I'm not Jewish, Haro, but as you know from living in the tri-state area, we're fortunate enough to live in a corner of the world highly populated with Jews. As such, I've been given a number of opportunities to share in their observance of holidays (though my memory is foggy on most of the details ^^;;).

And yes, there are rotten apples. I've met a lot of stuck up little princesses in the mexican figure ice skating community. One such dear is apparently the current Junior national champion. I hate her skating and her attitude. *shudders*

But I can. If you have something to say about it, do it there (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=200525). And even I'd like to, but that wasn't my thread.

Interesting, you've got offended by "think better". Actually, I thought that I was too polite there. In my opinion, it is more like an award - you can achieve something, if you think. Otherwise, I'd use "learn more", that would be more appropriate in discussion with people who merely know the basics.

I did have 5 glasses of wine though...

5 glasses are good. You are supposed to have 4 at least. And the food was delicious.

Kenpachi is right though Jews historically have gone through a lot. i mean check this out:
"I was sitting in a temple, I was minding my own business, I was listening to a lovely Hebrew mass, Then these papist persons plunge in, And they throw me in the dungeon, And they shove a red hot poker up my ***, Is that considerate? Is that polite? And not a tube of preparation H in sight!"

You simply haven't had good one.

What's a matzoh?

It's the thing they tried to break exactly in the middle in the movie in my first post.

Now the other one. Not so for Passover, but very good anyway.
