I think I took part in AN's New Years Eve Event... Which was just basically us trying to break the record. Didn't really post, was probably playing video games or with buddies.

I wasn't that much of an active member back then. At that time, I just launched my anime webcast commercially a month before, so I was probably doing business, such as trying to get the rights to Anime in the Limelight, while preparing for new year's eve 23 hours later.

Same here! I always thought the same. Well, AN is a good place for info. Whenever I look up anime-related things on Google, some AN thread always pops up.

I think I was on vacation at the time. I remember participating at breaking an old record at the end of 2002, but nowhere close to what happened on this date. I think there might have been a vB software malfunction or lots of web spiders attached to AN when this record occurred.

At least until a few minutes ago anyway. The most I have seen since I have joined is 50-ish members on at once, but obviously there are more than 50 total members. If they are like me, they don't log on unless they have something they want to post.

Google most likely. One of the other (now defunct) forums I was a member of had several hundred visits in one night when we only ever had a couple of dozen members. We checked the stats on the server, it turned out that Google decided to index every topic on the forum at once.

Remember it's 12-30 the day BEFORE new years eve. Any idea that you were partying or drunk is possible but may be one day early. As for myself I can't remember what I did yesterday 3 years ago is beyond me.
