Only a matter of time before someone pulled the racism card...

To all the races of the world...Stop perpetuating your negative stereotypes and nobody will focus on them. There. Problem solved. Its so simple its ridiculous.

A better quote would have been "And isn't ironic, don't ya think? A little too ironic, yeah I really do think."
Your spelling is trrible, you should be ashmed.
I'd never make such silly mistakes.

1 in 10 can't read their diplomas?!?!
One in four adults in my home state of Maine is functionally illiterate. They perceive things like road signs through pattern recognition, but they can't read otherwise. They've simply structured their lives such that reading isn't an essential function. They get their information via other sources.

Why do you have to be able to read the newspaper when you can simply ask "So what's going on in the world today?" down at your local diner?

Being able to read the weather to accurately determine how much snow is about to fall is a far more useful (and marketable) skill back home.

On a related note, "iorn" is the Old Norse word for "typo" isn't it? :P

Midoriko make a spelling mistake? How deliciously absurd!! I'm such a great speller, I spell nonexistent words correctly. I'm just THAT good!! You know I'm just joshin' with ya, Homester (Hmm, or Hamster...). Although, I am kinda GREAT!! Well, at least, that's what I tell myself to stop the tears...

Anywho, I guess the numbers were a bit surprising, but the whole Not Being able to read One's diploma thing isn't all that shocking to me. My dad attended one of them Wondertastic All-Black Get-What-You-Can-Take Schools...He's a bit of an Ancient-Timer, so it was a Mid-60ish Segregated School. AND, it was in Georgia AKA No-Good Hick State (Jebus, I love GA).

Anyhow, according to Good Ol' Dad, kids just got passed on up the ladder regardless of grades and little things like that. If you attended school, you advanced to the next level. So, I can understand why people who attended such schools might not be the best of readers.

Although, I'd be a bit surprised if any of the kids who attended school with either me/or my youngest older sister couldn't read. I mean, the teachers force you to read. Jebus knows I sat through some Trying Reading Sessions. I've seen more than my share of classmates lost to the Special Reading Class. Actually, I spent a day in the Special Reading Class. My 6th Grade Science teacher assumed that I needed some help with reading or whatnot, because I didn't really do the whole homework (and, to a lesser extent, classwork) thing in her class. Um, Madam, have you talked with my Language Arts teacher?!! Do you not know Who I AM?!! Dang! Just 'cause your class bores me, and I'm lazy and unmotivated, it doesn't mean there's something wrong with my reading comprehension or whatnot. And, the class was...the class was...just one notch above Munching Mark....that *****!! The Teacher Chick let me leave after the first day, 'cause it was kind of OBVIOUS that I didn't need any special attention. Hmm, and you know, on the little Language Arts Exam Thingies we had to take at the end of 6th Grade, my scores were good enough to exempt me from 7th Grade Reading. Suck it up, *****!! Suck it up!! 7th Grade Honors Lit./French 1, in your face!! I was really angry at that chick...up 'til the end of 8th Grade, actually. Maybe she was looking out for me (or maybe she was just a hateful *****), but she could've just talked to me or my Language Arts teacher, first. Hmm, it might've been fun to stay in that class, though. There was the funniest/coolest/cutest boy in that class... I bet he grew up real nice like...
