Sesshomaru is what is known as a great yokai.Yet when even he tries to take hold of the tetseiga he gets his hand burned.Yet theres a an episode where shippo tries to copy inuyashas windscar to impress the 3 little foxes and hes completly resistent to the barrier.In conclusion Shippo>Sesshomaru :O

Maybe it's just the fact that that particular episode you're referring to was a filler episode and thus why something like that was ignored.

However, I've also heard that somewhere in the manga that Shippo did manage to hold onto Tetsusaiga, and not get injured.... maybe it was a rumour? If it was, that's fine, if not, then my idea on the matter is this:
Tetsusaiga is a sword designed to protect, and not destroy. It's also a sword that's supposedly only supposed to be used by people with human blood in them, but can only be transformed by someone with youkai blood (so a hanyou). However, I wouldn't say that it would be impossible for a youkai with a pure heart, and a will to protect someone to hold the sword.
That is purely my theory, and I don't really care if you want to laugh at it, flame it, or whatever. I'm just stating my views on the matter.

I agree with you completely Dark_Knight, and yes the scene with Shippou touching Tessaiga in the manga is true. It should also be taken into account that Shippou isn't exactly a powerful youkai.

o yeah i was actually watching that episode a few days a go it was when the (annoying) little foxes thought he did the windscar and to show them haha i did get confussed with that though i wonder mabey they did it because shippou was a weak demon or they just totally forgot:doh:

Yeah, Shippo's demon power probably didn't register on Tetsaiga's scales. :P

It's not that his power didn't register, it's that the barrier is somewhat selective. I don't mean it choses who to activate against, just what activates it, if you see what I mean.
So far, the barrier activates when;
A) You try to draw the sword from its' scabbard
B) You try to pick up the sword and scabbard when it's stuck in something (EG the ground or the pedestal)
C) You try to use the sword as a weapon.
Since when Shippou picked it up in the manga, it was neither stuck in something (a la the sword in the stone), nor did he try to wield it offensively, the barrier didn't register him as a wielder. If he'd tried to use it as a weapon, the odds are that it would have rejected him.
As for when he used it in that filler episode... he's an illusionist, what's to say it was even really Tessaiga? :p

Well, Inuyasha does have a few plot holes here and there, so it wouldn't surprise me if Takahashi had a full youkai wield Tetsusaiga (the point where Sesshomaru used it with a human arm, not counting)
