Because I'm a fanboy, I like Viera, there must be other people who do as well, and need I point to my title? (A title that I actually earned by the way, so no challenges... PM me if you have to know why you don't qualify, PM because it gets a little graphic *grin* )
I loves you Milly, because you have love for the Viera...

Its hard to avoid saying anything negative after that load of rambling.

"I luv them becuz i luv them luv i milly cuz u love them i love milly i mean i love viera what viera i r fanboy cuz look at my title i earned it in contest it is a little graphic pm me for absolutey no raisin"

No challenges? What? PM you if you qualify? What? Graphic? WHAT? A TITLE? You love milly because of graphic title and love of Viera what I am so confused WHY DO YOU PROVIDE ME WITH CHARACTER SET PICTURES :'(

And on the Topic of the FINAL FANTASY TACTICS ADVANCED Characters, Ritz pwns any Viera ANY DAY. Ritz = pwn. Verz = pwn by Ritz. Thats the formula. ^^

@Milly: Dunno why gender has to come into play

Such hostility this one has... Did I do something to you in a past life?
Your post is even more disorganized than my room, and there aint nothin more disorganized than my room... O___O Frogface!
I don't provide you with pictures... ~_~
Milly posted one, and I posted a couple... Get off my back, there's not room for you and my family...
pwn??? Kyu says WTF to that one... WTFm??? What The Fudge mates?
I mean, simply put, that I get a lot of challenges about my title...
Back when this place was more active I got more than a few challenges to the validity of my title...

I got a serious question for you people that actually want to discuss this seriously... *Looks around* <_< >_>
^_^
In Final Fantasy XII, if the Viera have such disdain for the Humes, and they don't like visitors, how then do they reproduce? They're all female, not a single male... (No my campaign world for D&D doesn't count, although that tale about the Viera King was kinda fun... I digress)
I know the obvious answer would be "With Humes." But they seem to dislike Humes so much, that it's puzzling to me...
Obviously they can, and sometimes do, reproduce with Humes... [SPOLIER]But those Viera are the ones who've left the Wood...[/SPOILER]

In Tactics Advance they seem much, MUCH friendlier... So the answer is obvious for that game...

I'm being serious, this vexes me...

How do you come to the "obvious" conclusion that Viera are forced to procreate with humans? Even if there aren't any Viera males, that doesn't mean sex is the only form of reproduction for a fantasy race.

Vieras are awesome! They need to become a permanant fixture in the world of Final Fantasy!

I think my battling party in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was Marche and mostly Viera assassins and snipers. I like to think of them as the Bunny Brigade.

A lot of people did that. Personally I liked to vary.

Plus I liked the Elementalist class :p

A Summoner with Double Cast is also pretty powerful.

I agree wholeheartedly...

*Nods* I have one of every job for the Viera...
I use Marche, Montblanc, and about 4 Viera... 2 Assassins, 1 Red Mage, and I think a Sniper...

Even if there aren't any Viera males, that doesn't mean sex is the only form of reproduction for a fantasy race.
O___O
I don't even know where to begin to address that one... Except to say that I did hear somewhere, a while ago, that in Tactics Advance that they do in fact take Hume lovers...
And unless they changed the rules in XII wildly, I'd say it still applies...
Because XII is set in the same world as Tactics Advance, because they mention Bervenia the kingdom from Tactics Advance...
And, if you don't think they reproduce by sexual reproduction... How do you think they do it?
You can't just say that they don't reproduce sexually and not offer a theory as to why...
I shall provide a theory of my own in answer to my own question that I just asked...
One theory that I've used in my FanFic is that the Wood herself impregnates her beloved children... I won't tell you how, that's a secret and you'll just have to read for yourself once I post it on my website...

When is it ever mentionned that Viera have human lovers in Tactic Advance??

The Viera could reproduce asexually, which would mean the daughters would be genetic clones of the daughters. This would make their race rather weak to diseases because they would lack genetic diversity.

Another possibility is that the Viera can impregnate each other, sorta like snails can and that they are actually just a bunch of hermaphrodites :p

Or even crazier... Viera Males and Viera Females just look exactly the same except down there XD

I heard it somewhere, I don't know where it said that they have Hume lovers... That and there is a Hume/Viera pair in FF XII, and not just Fran and Balthier it's another pair later in the game, so I know that they can reproduce sexually...
Daughters are genetic clones of the daughters? Mean you that daughters would be genetic clones of the mothers? Cause I've done that in D&D with one of myt characters... O___O
Did you just call the Viera weak? Must... not... pass... out... *Clutches chest*
The pain! The pain!!
There are no males... If you look into it, it's actually stated that they are an all female race...

I've taken the time to think this over and I have two theories...
The first is the one that I've already presented... And goes into my FanFic...
If a Viera goes fifty years past "maturity" without bearing a child... The wood takes matters into her own... Branches?
The wood puts the Viera into a trance and leads her to a secret, sacred clearing deep within Golmore Jungle... I won't get into the actual details... But the Viera wakes up the next morning, feeling well rested and full of vitality... In a few weeks, she'll realize that she's pregnant, but with no idea of how she became pregnant...
The second, is from my D&D campaign world: Ivalice... (I pronounce it Eye-Vah-Lis, just to differentiate from the world of XII and Tactics Advance, where they say Ee-Vah-Lees... Don't hate me for that, I just needed to make sure no one got the two worlds confused with each other...)
In my world there's something called Nazonian Magic... It's an ancient form of arcane magic that few but the Nazonians know how to use...
Basically it changes parts of a woman's anatomy into other things... (It's called Funtari, if you care to look it up...) Now what if the Viera were like this? That would explain how an all female race could reproduce, while at the same time shunning the outside world...
These are just two theories... I still think they reproduce with Humes...
Simply because there's that Viera who thinks the Lovestruck Man is her soulmate... Or should I say he could be her 63rd "Almost" Soulmate?
The Nazonians are an ancient religion that worship the Spirit of Thunder, Volt... Their main location used to be the floating island of Nazonia... That is before the Demon Lord's wife knocked it out of the sky to get her revenge on the Nazonian's... Now their main location is the Temple of Thunder, on the hidden continent of Hyrule... They chose this place because Volt, the Spirit of Thunder is actually one of them...
Does this explain it for you? If it doesn't you can PM me and I'll answer anything you want to know...

Seriously dude, you scare the **** out of me. Nerd-dom gone HORRIBLY awry.

But for the record, who dictated that just because two creatures are close, they're automatically screwing, well, like rabbits?

Just because a viera and a hume hit it off doesn't mean they're bumping uglies. Perhaps their spiritual connection for one another trumps their carnal nature? Or at least, the hume's carnal nature, given no one really knows if viera need to be mounted for reproduction. A purely platonic exclusive bond between two people in a fantasy story is not all that wild of an idea.

Hell, for all intents and purposes, the viera sacrifice everything about being a viera the moment they leave the wood. Viera like Fran have already proven they're willing to give up what viera heritage dictates they should be, in favor of becoming what they want to be.

Also, "lover" does not explicitly imply sex. I thought you might want to know that.

Your self-promoted IQ does absolutely nothing for you if all you do is sit in front of your computer with crackpot theories, D&D campaigns, and horrible, horrible fantasies of teh bunny womens.

It is a well known fact amongst the higher echelons of Final Fantasy fandom that Moogles are the product of Hume and Viera interbreeding.

True that, despite that game failing so much, they were the best race and had the best jobs.

Hmmm... Humes and Moogles make Viera?? Interesting...
I've always said that Moogles are cats crossed with rabbits with a little bird thrown in... I had a theory like that worked in to my FanFic to explain the various subraces of Viera... Hume + Moogle = Hoomgle... Hoomgle + Viana = Rava...
If they were just friends, they wouldn't be called lovers... "Lovers" almost always does implicitly imply sexual relationships of a romantic nature... *Unties tongue* Otherwise they would be called friends, or best friends...
It's just semantics, I say lovers implies sex, you say it doesn't... It's just two valid points of view...
Red Mage was my favorite job... Hence the reason that my profile pic is a Viera Red Mage...
My team was Marche, Montblanc, Ritz, Shara, and a Viera Sniper and Assassin... Before Ritz and Shara I used a Red Mage and another Assassin...

As to your comment about Nerddom gone horribly wrong... First off, I'm not a nerd, I'm a geek... Second, this is nothing compared to what I actually think about when I'm bored... (I refer you to my theory about how Ranma could impregnate himself)
This just scratches the surface of my geekiness... It could be much worse...
I'd also like to ask, what makes you think that the Viera don't reproduce sexually?
Everything I've seen points to the fact that they do...

Michael
March 22nd, 2007, 12:37 AM
It's not so much about whether or not they're hume-style sexually active (which is still not necessarily proven. I'd like to see everything that you've seen [canon] that exclusively proves this), it's the ludicrous claim that once one of them feels the need for a seed, the only way for them to reproduce is to go against everything both they and their wood stand for, based on a couple mentioned instances of viera who already turned their back on their heritage.

If they were reproducing exclusively with humes, their viera like qualities would slowly be withering away with every generation, even within their introverted societies.

But while we're playing the question game. If humes are the only source of viera reproduction, explain to me how the two sub-races of viera, the veena and the rava, can produce mixed breed offspring? If they're exclusively female, then "nature found a way," meaning their reproduction, if sexual at all, is not the same as humes'. Perhaps they're hermaphrodites, and exclusively take the physical form of a female? Or they're asexual, and have a completely unique form of reproduction? Otherwise, they keep their males tucked away.

A hume male cannot be responsible for inter-mixing of viera.

Questions that I'm sure Square never thought to be asked, ah, thanks lamers.

Who cares!

These 'what if' arguements tend to lead no where fast.

Yer fanfics are going to be what you intend for them to be. Just because you think SE made something so, as long as they never fully truly announced anything to be factual, all you can do is speculate.

I mean, isn't porn much more entertaining anyways? Girls with huge friggin scary arse ears don't do it for me honestly.

KyubiNoKitsune
March 22nd, 2007, 02:33 PM
If they were reproducing exclusively with humes, their viera like qualities would slowly be withering away with every generation, even within their introverted societies.

That's easily explained... If a Viera conceives a Viera-child, then her Vieran DNA overrides the Hume's DNA and the child is born completely Vieran...
If the child is a Hume-Child he inherits very little of his mother's DNA and mostly his father's DNA... The child is then born completely Hume... This is how the Viera maintain their integrity over the generations of interbreeding with Humes... To sum it up, if the child is female, it's Viera... If it's male, it's Hume...
You keep asking "Who says?", "Who says?"... Well I guess "I says..." :P

Who cares!
Quite obviously, I cares!

I told you that I'd put far more thought into beeing geeky than you imagined...

I think we should file "How do Vierra reproduce" right next to "What would happen if female Ranma got pregnant?"

On a side note, assuming the have the appropriate anatomy and orifices, I would hit it too. Fran was the best part of FF12.
