Looking for darker anime

Recently I've been watching things like Ouran High School, Excel Saga, and Getbackers. all pretty light hearted and using humor as their method. I'm looking for some darker anime. something with fighting, maybe a psychothriller. asking for recommendations. got any?

Well there is a good deal of comedy, in the first half anyway.

Evangelion is around as dark as Mobile Suit Gundam. Although Mobile Suit Gundam was more serious & had little comedy.

Neither would I count as very dark.

Well shinji is a deepressed little girl in a 12 year old boys body, so the whole thing is funny to me xD. Gotta admit there are some darker themes in the mix and as the series progresses it gets more and more eerie (*twilight zone music)

I would recommend it for the pyscho freak outs, depression, and shinji-ness at least. After all, all that series was was a giant colouge of a classic example of when lil chillins dont get enough lovin' xD

Yeah, i have to remention Lain, Boogie pop phantom, perfect blue, hellsing, paranoia agent, vampire princess miyu.
There are some very very very dark hentai titles, an iam not jus talking sexual content, iam talking very dark stories/plot.
