What is a primary DNS and how do I find it?

You should have been given that information by your ISP. Alternately, you can have your computer attempt to detect one automatically.
DNS = Domain Name Server.

On the internet, a Domain Name Server is what turns friendly URLs like http://www.google.com into IP addresses like 64.223.167.99 so that you don't have to remember lots of numbers. All of the DNS on the internet basically exchange data so that everyone has access to every valid domain. All ISPs maintain their own DNS, and they will be able to tell you what the IP address of their primary server is but usually, as Desslock pointed out, your computer will automatically be assigned to a DNS.
