...seriously. although they may have aged and are physically (and often mentally) incapable of doing the things they did 50+ years ago, we must remember that they were OUR age too before.

I always thought that kind of thing was horrible. It happens a LOT too. It really sucks. There are some messed up people in the world.

I think this sort of thing is disgusting.
I can understand getting frustrated but as an human being you should be able to control yourself.

My mother works as a nurse in a nursing home for mental patients. Sometimes the clients (the elderly) flip out and start chasing round the staff and beating them up. Schizophrenics and the like. This might seem ridiculous to you, but old and childlike mentality doesn't always mean infirm. There might be a guy in his 70s who's like 18 stone and full of muscles with none of his senses intact chasing round everyone... they have to team up and subdue them and give them their drugs... it really scares me knowing my mother is frequently in that sort of situation. She told me one of the staff actually got knocked out after being thrown into a wall...
I don't kow what they had on the news, but did it look like purely abusive behaviour towards a helpless old man, or some kind of self-defense?

mods always delete my posts! auwrgh!
point being, tyvm, I like old people, because many times they are fairly wise, and tell good stories.

People like that shouldn't be allowed to live. If I ever found out someone was mistreating my grandparents, I'd take care of them myself.

That's just sad. I like old people, they're wise and funny at the same time. Don't underestimate them though.
There was a story I was read once by a former soldier named Jeff who served about 17 years ago. One day he and his friends were having a beer at some establishment, and another soldier gets a little too drunk and starts bullying this old, Middle Eastern man (think it was a Kurd?). Next thing you know he begins punching this old codger, and the bullying soldier starts to scream bloody murder. Jeff looks over at what's happening, and it turns out the old man had a karambit knife (do a google search on it, they're pretty nasty looking) on him. He was carving out his back with it as he hugged him, and the old man's friends ganged up on the soldier and beat him up.
Age isn't always an indicator of fury. I wish the man who was abused had something up his sleeve.
