CRESTVIEW - (AP) -- A father faces murder charges after telling police he threw his 14-month-old daughter 12 feet across a kitchen to keep the child from crawling near a pile of trash.

An autopsy performed Wednesday found that the child, Nicole P. Sarvis, died Tuesday night of blunt force trauma to the head.

The father, Derrick Adam Sarvis, 22, told investigators he had been sweeping in the kitchen when the baby crawled toward the pile of trash in their Panhandle home. To keep her away, he threw her into an adjacent room, Crestview police Lt. Jamie Grant said.

Grant said investigators found bruising and other signs indicating the child had been abused for some time. The mother, Crystal Sarvis, 25, faces felony neglect charges for not telling police about the alleged ongoing abuse.

The mother discovered the child unresponsive about 8:30 p.m. when she came home for a dinner break from her job as a cab driver, police said. The mother called 911 while rushing the baby to the hospital in her cab, but the baby was pronounced dead on arrival.

Derrick and Crystal Sarvis were being held today in the Okaloosa County Jail. Bond had not been set pending a first appearance.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

And it seems there has been a history of abuse with the child, so it's a really sad situation.

Hm, the father 22 years-old and the mother 25.

On a further note, we don't really need people posting every slightly disturbing news article on these forums. This sort is still rather common compared to what's been posted before.

I'm about to cry after reading that.

Which would obviously make me wanna bring up Dr. Phil. An episode I saw one time showed 2 stories.

The first one was about a woman who was remarrying. The man she was marrying was clueless and a total douchebag.
Enter 4-year-old son. Who lit himself on FIRE. RED FLAG NUMBER ONE. THE KID IS FRICKIN PLAYING WITH LIGHTERS.
Then, the frucking idiot doesn't take him to the HOSPITAL. When he has 3RD DEGREE BURNS.

Case 2:

This one is the case of an idiot mother. She has two small children, daughters, aged 4 and 2.
But she wants BAD BOYS who go to JAIL. The first husband's in for arson, and the SECOND DAD...
...MURDERED HIS WIFE.
AND THE IDIOT MARRIES HIM INSIDE THE PRISON.
She doesn't care what kind of enviornment she puts her kids in, SHE WANTS BAD BOYS.

Case theory: People like this should be shot and their children given to the state. Even if they're not breaking abuse laws.

I have just tooooo many years under my belt to get tooooo totally blown away by this (because it's so not uncommon unfortunately)

Fact one, you won't be ready for what you CAN do until your 21, accept it, I don't give a damn what you teenagers think about that either, remember, I've already been there. I know the truth. I've known it for more than 2 decades.

Fact two, an erect male and a willing fertile female is all you require for parenthood to occur. Thus, parenting CAN begin with 2 13 year kids. But keep in mind, just because you CAN become parents, doesn't mean you want to.

Fact three, just being able to end up a parent, doesn't mean you will have the slightest clue how to do anything right. Sadly that's the responsibility of an older wiser person who is YOUR parent(s). And they are NOT doing their job if they are NOT making sure you know how to NOT become one till after you are 21.

I suspect that man had morons for parents in order to end up such an excellent example of one himself.

It's mostly society that creates dumb fool idiot parents. Because they let dumb fool idiots become new unprepared idiot parents in the first place.

Question for every teen on the forum here. How much blunt in your face sex talk have you experienced with your parents?
For anyone that said none, you have my sympathy. Your life is not as safe as it might be.

All I got out of dad, was an awkward discussion about masturbation when I was 14 when it became apparent to them I had discovered what happens when you play with an erection.
Nothing after that. No advice from mom about girls and how to treat them. No advice from dad on how to deal with being a guy. Nadda zip nothing. I was on my own.

For those over 21, would you agree you think differently now (even if only slightly), then when you were 20 or younger?

I had my own son after 8 years of marriage by the way. This was intentional. It took me 3 months of ordinary unprotected sexual activity to get my wife pregnant. It's fairly easy to do with healthy humans.

It's not easy learning the ropes, and not easy when your parents shy away from just telling you stuff that sure would have helped.
All too often you end up with people like the worthless sperm donor in this news item.

How about I do you one better, and tell you about the man who put his girlfriends baby into the freezer? And the baby lived.

A lot of gossip around the case, but this is what it boiled down to.

Wow, what the hell? Why would you throw the baby? Doesn't even make sense. Some people...Gah, it makes me too mad.

Apparently, Derrick forgot that when you play 'house' you never throw the baby. Looks like he sucked at the game. You never throw the baby when playing house. But, then again, the kids I knew played house without the baby. I guess the baby was too broken to have in the house?

That's so disgusting...abusing a baby...One's OWN baby, at that. A person really has to be ****ed up in the mind to prey on his/her own offspring...Hmm, a toddler...Lots can happen between birth and 21.

And, I'm pretty damned sure it isn't because "he's too young" or some other lame excuse like that...I'm "young," and I know how Irksome babies can be at times, but I've never reached the point where I just can't stop myself from going nuts on an infant/toddler...AND, I don't have kids.

"Oh! People mature differently." M'kay...Maybe that'd be a valid excuse if he was like five or Super Retarded. And, didn't like the mom know about the abuse? I hate that *****, too. "Gosh and Golly Gee! I gotta keep keep my dumbass 22-Year-Old boyfriend, so I'll ignore the fact that he's abusing our child..." That is, if she wasn't in on it, too. I'm very angry...

And they are NOT doing their job if they are NOT making sure you know how to NOT become one till after you are 21.

I wouldn't fully agree with that. It depends a lot on the culture. In my country it's still pretty common to see 12 and 13 year old teenagers having children and it's perfectly socially normal (I mean MARRIED 12 year olds). Legally an 80 year old man can have sex with a 12 year old and it's legal if the sex was consented. Doesn't happen much in the big city, but it's common with the indian tribes in the rural areas.

I'm okay with women getting pregnant if they are over 17 since the miscarriage risk from being too young is quite low. I'm okay with younger people getting pregnant if they planned it and they know about STD's. You could be 30 years old just starting your sex life and I'd be pretty damn against your habits if you're spreading Hepatitis to everyone because you think condoms make you a pansy.

Sadly I know too many people that really think condoms are for pansy men and didn't start to use them until they got their first STD. *Sigh*

Throws a baby across the room? Idiots, simply idiots. If it was the first time the baby got hurt, it wouldn't be so bad for the mother because she wasn't there; but to know (probably be seeing X-rays of old unhealed fractures) the baby was abused before and the idiot mother didn't go to a doctor or to the police, shame on her stupidity.

There should be a law to give out histerectomies and permanent vasectomies to people like this. They shouldn't contaminate any further the future genepool.

I'll go ya one further sailornyanko, I'd give him a lobotomy with a baseball bat.

But I will acknowledge, in some cultures, procreation is handled a lot better. Over all, a female is biologically "able" to reproduce the second the begins to be of child bearing age.
Putting that person in a society that percieves sex as disgusting or sinful or any number of other dumb dogmatic belief systems though is a recipe for disaster.

Sex is just plain poorly handled in North American society in general.

But mental pictures appeared and I couldn't help it. :/

Baby throwing record?

I know, I'm awful. :(

Honestly, parents that abuse their children make me sick. If you want a punching bag, you don't have to bring forth a human being.

Go to Modells.

I wish they would allow cruel and unusual punishments. Being thrown from a trebuchet onto a field of upturned syringes filled with nitric acid sounds about right for this.
