What how big is your monitor and what resolution are you using?
I just bought a new flat LCD screen because my old junk broke. It's a 19" and I use 1280×1024 as resolution.

I'm afraid to ask, but what is it that requires so many monitors?
Oh, I meant to add my laptop:
15" monitor @ 1024x768

In my house the largest computer monitor is 19" used on a PowerMac and a PC. My iMac has a 15" screen (old school CRT) and my laptop is 10".
My dad has a 30" Apple display because he "couldn't see" on a regular display (at least that's how he justified his purchase to my mom) and a 17" display for his PC and a 17" iMac. Oh and his 17" laptop.

My laptop screen is 13.3. I don't like big screens unless I'm designing something. Even then, I'm not a complete fan.

I don't like big screens either, but when you have enough room to fit the IM bar a post box and your contact list, and have them all resonably well to see, a big screen is your best friend

I'm sportin' the Dell 15" LCD monitor. Default 1024x768 resolution. I could use bigger for my MAME stuff when I play SFA3 online.

I'm currently using the same 17" monitor I've had for... I dunno... a decade? It's moved a bunch of times, but it's always been reliable and it's outlasted most of the computers to which it's been attached. Current resolution: 1024x768.
When I'm writing a lot of code, I'll have a second monitor hooked up - usually smaller, but the same resolution. I'll usually run the debugger on the smaller screen. Given the kind of coding and testing I do, I've often got more than one machine going, but I tend to run 'em all through the same monitor & input. It's easier.

ehe i find the 19" LCD to have it's querks for example ther's more space on it then my backyard (lie) with a reselution of 1280x1040 the only problem i can see with this reselution is the quality in the full sized images i place on my desktop background. it's hard to find good quallity images to fit the 1280x1040 scale and not look blurry, i know my computer graphics instructors tolled me never expand an image or the pixelasion will destroy it. ^_^ well that's fine for the work foce, but at home i have no choice.
So all those background images you guys post, that are big enough for me to see entirly on my moniter without shrinking it, are too small to use.

I use a 17" CRT monitor with a Trinitron tube at 1600x1200 resolution. I could never go back to using a lower resolution. This allows me to fit so much more on the screen, and it has the benefit of being genuinely 4:3 aspect ratio for viewing video.

You know i could never find a reselusion bigger then the one i had for my old 17" monitor. (which is smaller then the one i have for my 19" monitor" i don't know reselusion numbers >_<) How do you get a bigger reselusion?

I wish I could help ya, but all I did was to move the resolution slider in Display Properties as far as it would go, and 1600x1200 was the highest resolution available. Compared to other 17" monitors I've seen, this one has quite a lot of visible area, so it works pretty well.

Not that I can give anything useful to this thread, but I thought people should note that I was highly interested when my eyes crossed the words "How big is your..." and then I sighed in disappointment at the word "...monitor."
Fine. Be that way. You have no idea what you're all missing.

My comp is plugged into my 32" LCD tv, on 1024x768 resolution. It's connected via s-video, so it can't go much bigger, and text is fairly illegible as it is. I'll be buying a VGA cable next paycheck (god I love this tv ^_^)

Currently using my Powerbook with a 15" widescreen display @ 1280x854dpi, but what I would really like is Apple's 30" Cinema HD Display, even though I don't have a system (Mac or PC) that could handle it, but still... *drool*

I'm using a 17" CRT at 1280x1024 here... if I had a better graphics card and monitor, I'd have put it higher, but then, spending more money on PC components just to have a bigger desktop is not justifible spending when there are more important things like manga and videogames out there that need buying. -_-;
At work, I use two 17" CRT monitors, both at once. About the same resolution, I think. They want us to move over to LCD monitors for energy efficency (saving the environment is big with us at the moment), but I'm not having any of that.
For one thing, I can't balance a selection of super robot gachapon figures (http://www.tenshi.org.uk/images/work_desk.jpg) on top of an LCD monitor. Secondly, LCD monitors aren't as good.

Secondly, LCD monitors aren't as good.Your first point is undeniable, but your second point is a matter for some debate. Personally I agree entirely, but a lot of people seem to have reasons to disagree. I can't stand the things, whether for TV, or for computer monitor.

Well, at my workplace - we do web stuff - the accounts team get LCD monitors 'cos they look swish when clients visit, and they have a smaller environmental footprint. The designers get one CRT and one LCD so they can see how their designs look on both; colours tend to come out differently on LCD screens; there's a much larger risk of garishness. The developers (of which I am one) get what they're given. But we tend to try and fight for CRT monitors.
If you're going to stare at a screen all day, make it the type that hurts your eyes the least, is what I think...

19' monitor at 1684 x 1248 dpi, if I recall correctly (I don't have it in front of me right now, it might be a 1724 x 12xx resolution instead).
It's pretty big. If I buy anything bigger, I've been converted to the dark side of commercialism.
