I was watching on demand of Anime Expo 2006, and they shown a few people doing it. Someone was doing a cook...saying something like "Cooking is.....LIFE! Cooking is...." etc...I don't remember the exact wording, but yea, I believe it is so. My con ever did as far as I know.

Not an audition so much as you can be a voice for a character in a clip for fun as part of a panel on dubbing.

We've never had auditions at Sakura-Con, but there generally are industry reps at cons that you can talk to about where to go for an audition. At Sakura-Con, we also have Dreamcatchers that usually attend, which is a voice acting school (I know that Nintendo gets voice actors from them occassionally).

At the Dallas area conventions, it seems like there is always a voice acting panel or 2 to attend. There are also situations where start up groups want to hire really cheap voice acting talent for their start up animations. You'll likely get paid nothing, but it's a start, if you're trying to get into the anime scene.

...the question is... WHY would you want to be a voice actor?
