I was playing around with the clock, just for lulz, when a window came up saying: "Your Vista trial has expired."
Now it only runs in limited mode and my activation keys don't work. I can't even reinstall it!

Got XP? That's what you get for depending on an RTM.

I'm running RC2.

I'm running RC2.
It's still time limited, though its still considered an RTM build because not all of the features (mostly DRM related) are built into that build.

Will Reinstalling it ever work?

Nope. Once the trial runs out, its done. By the way, you'll need to build a bootdisk to get rid of the partition before going back to XP.

Any bootdisk recommendations?

Won't the regular XP installation CD allow you to delete unnecessary partitions?

Come to think of it, which BootDsk would work with this OS?

Any it circumvents the OS from loading. I have an old old dell resource cd that I use for this purpose. If you want to completley blow everything let me know i will post a debug script that will clear the partition on the HDD and the CMOS

Microsoft "secured" NTFS on Vista (meaning each Vista partition cannot be overwritten or read simply by running an XP install disc. The partition itself must be deleted before reinstallation of another OS

that's kind of funny, so if you set the clock back alot, you'll be able to run Vista trial forever

You could just report what you did to Microrsoft. I would call what happened to your installation a bug.

Probably not. A lot of time-limited trials can detect clock-tampering, and will expire instantly if the clock is altered. Often it doesn't matter if you alter it forwards or backwards, or how much.

If I delete the partition, will everything go?

yes, except some exceptional viruses and a few tings that can be reovered by professional means.

I just noticed what happened. I didn't mess with anything wrong. It wasn't that the clock was changed, but rather that it hit 12.
the expiration was listed as 1/6/06. Some thought it was meant to be June 1st.
It wasn't.
I see clearly now. I got screwed. I was expecting This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9ifQvQCO7Y). What I got was this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDS).
I won't say it's a bad OS. It's great. But I don't need it. Funny story; my first OS was Windows ME, on an old Presario. When I got this one, I was amazed at how much better XP worked, and how it never locked up, or crashed. Well, after I nuke my HD (using Active@ Kill Disk, DBAN, or whatever) I'll switch back to XP, 2000, or Linux Ubuntu. It'll be nice to have a PC that works again.
