View Full Version : When did Bleach jump the shark? (SPOILERS)

Virtually every shounen title goes through this period sooner or later, where the series goes on a seemingly endless track downhill. Bleach is certainly no exception, as it continues to spiral into copypasta. So my question is, when did the manga start to go downhill?

PS: This is for manga discussion only, so the filler arc in the anime doesn't count. Also be sure to mark your spoilers by using spoiler tags, as there WILL be people who haven't been caught up with the latest chapters of the manga.

As soon as they got home from Namek.

It's still worth reading though. The anime is just not even worth my time to download, let alone watch. In fact, even if someone offered to ship me each episode the day it was aired on a DVD in a solid gold case, I still wouldn't watch it. Of course, I'd keep the gold, though.

It hasnt for me yet.

It only slowed down slightly for me when

Grimjaw & co showed up and Ichigo and Grimjaw fought for the first time. I realize it was a way to set things up though, so I dont really mind it, and cant hate the show for it.

it better not go downhill. if it does, itll end up being a series that had wasted potential.

i dont think its going repetive. but i can see what your going at. major event in the plot in the future, and like DBZ, it could turn into a giant advertising logo for repetetiveness. when i first saw the series on subs, i had a feeling that something like Aizen would come up, with them having to go into the hollow world and kick some *** but i dont think theres a lot that the series can go beyond. maybe some other event taking up another arc, but not having the impact that this one will have. whats gonna happen, they have to challenge God? or defeat a hollow that was controlling Aizen? that would be just killing the series. and i dont see any big romantic angle comming up. there are a bunch of things that can go wrong, but judging by the way the series has been going, im sure Kubo Tite will handle things fine. other wise this becomes another dbz. then we'll have two incarnations, fitting in with naruto :x

Yeah, I'm hoping that they will know when to quit. When they beat Aizen, the series should end.

My perfect ending: They beat Aizen him to save Inoue, Inoue will be visably upset thinking Ichigo likes Rukia, we will find out Rukia and Ichigo are actually brother & sister, Renji will confess to Rukia, and Ichigo will grab Inoue and plant a big smooch on her and tell her he has always loved her.

:D

thats good. the last part is iffy. its way too apparent about rukia and renji. but renji wont grow some balls and say something. the feeling for inoue and ichigo is not mutual. in fact ichigo doesnt have romantic feelings for anyone. hes close with rukia because she saved his familys butts and stuff.

what would be pretty damn funny is that momo gets slapped out of her craziness by urahara and he helps her get bankai and her bankai ends up pwning the hell out of Aizen. actually that would be really cool, but no way it would happen.

tatsuki will become a kick*** shinigami (as implied in artbooks made by the mangaka) yachiru will fight (that will rock), everyone will show their bankai, general yamamoto will go bankai and kill everything, Kenpachi will reveal shikai (as we are all begging God for it to happen) and take out every hollow by frickin SNEEZING cause his bankai would probably destroy half of Japan, a whole other bunch of other incredibly awesome shows of ownage, some eps of closure, and THEN it will end.

If that happens, I'll burn every copy of Bleach I can find, then pierce Tite's heart to the wall with a replica of Zangetsu. All while wearing my own Hollow mask, no less.

Unfortunately, however, the Ichigo/Orihime part is probably going to happen. Tite's been hinting at it even from the beginning, and now it's gotten even worse with Orihime finally confessing to Ichigo right before being kidnapped by Aizen. That was the moment that pissed me off the most, as it officially killed the Ichigo/Rukia fan in me, as well as jumped the shark by starting the copypasta arc.

Noooooooooooooooooo............please please don't let this go into another Inuyasha/Naruto-like show. Starts out good, but then starts suffering from being around too long.

Don't worry, it might just be another couple of filler episodes. It'll be fine, dear. :huggles: :*

Then I'd have to hate this show and get annoyed and start making up my own fanfictions to amuse myself.

You do that then. Just be sure to post them where I can read them.

goddess, you share my opinion very well. just the thought of this happening is bad. Tite doing something along these lines would ruin his career forever.

I really can't see Tite pulling an Inuyasha; he obviously has a lot more tricks up his sleeve as far as the story goes.

After all, we know now how Orihime will be an important character, as her powers are being used as a plot device. Exactly what Aizen has planned for those powers, however, we still do not yet know. Hopefully we'll know soon, because I don't want to wait for seemingly a year before the plot really moves forward.

this IS Bleach we're talking about. most, most, most likely its not gonna go that way. and even if the series went beyond the thing with aizen, then Tite would still make it good. but you cant expect anything when it comes to Bleach. comon, WHO saw the whole Aizen thing comming!?

dammit i got sucked into this crap and i shouldnt have. all shounen series have things in comon, but Bleach is more unique.

plus with the time left in the manga before the invasion, the pace is gonna slow down, cause we need to see more stuff concerning the shinigami (powers) and some things have to happen before the battle occurs i.e. more shikai and bankai.

Yachiru is the little pink haired girl right?

It's the little ones that are always the most powerful...

Yeah I've had horrible feelings about a potential Inchigo/Orihime hook up for ever since I started watching the show and I'm not a regular watcher, have only seen the episodes on AS and haven't read the manga.

Hey who knows maybe Orihime will DIE... or fall in love with the guy mentioned in the spoilers and turn evil. An EVIL Orihime, I would love to see that and then Ichigo would have to fight her and her fairies.

goddessofanime

Actually, I"d want to see how that plays out too. Orihime fighting anyone with her fairies would be good.

And what's up with little Ururu now?

As much as I'd like to see that happen, it's probably not going to.

Of course, Aizen could very well use his zanpakuto's ability to put Orihime completely under his spell. He could use it to convince Orihime that Ichigo and the Scoobies have been killed, making her emotionally weaker for Aizen to seduce into his side. I know it's not nearly plausible enough to be canon in the manga, but maybe, just maybe, the anime could take a different direction after the Arrancar arc.

I know it's a long shot for my thinkings but a girl can dream can't she? I still would like to see how it would play out if Ichigo did have to fight against an evil Orihime? If the time came where he had to kill her to free her soul, would he? OOOoo suspense.

But the only way it could work is if Ichigo admits his feelings toward Orihime in hopes of bringing her back to normal, which very cheesily works when Orihime uses Tsubaki's ability to kill Aizen once and for all. It seems that no matter how hard we try to keep them apart, the story will inevitably go Ichigo/Orihime in the end.

I agree with Timaeus on Ichigo/Inoue.

Besides, I'm betting on either Orihime or Chad for a death pool. Or Ichigo dies a heroic death and everyone lives. I just can't see Ishida being in the death pool because that would be kind of lame to kill off the last person in the Shinigamis rival clan. Plus he's a perfect foil for Ichigo.
