Comes out on Christmas Day.

I remember seeing the previews for it over the summer. I thought it had an interesting premise. The worlds end was not to be met by an alien invasion, a natural disaster, artificial intelligence, or nuclear wars but the mere fact that women had become infertile. But I wasn't marking my calendar as to when it was being released.

That was before the first batch of reviews came out. The movie is getting some of the highest rated reviews of the year so far. I may actually go opening night now.

It'd never happen in real life, I'm so fertile that I got a woman with tied tubes pregnant.

Yeah, the reason there's 1 billion people in China, is because I was catholic for a week. =O

So, if you hadn't been catholic for that one week, there'd be another billion people in china?

No it’s actually possible (in theory) but we all would have to be exposed to radiation. So it might happen during/after a nuclear holocaust.

I get the theory, but movies about the end of mankind usually don't entertain me too well. As usually, it's probably gonna' focus on a few people, and what they go through (like The Day After Tomorrow). It's hard to make movies like that go.

I used disaster movies in comparison only for their premise of the worlds end, not in types of movies.

Armageddon and The Day After Tomorrow (or any other movie like these) are hollow special effects demonstrations. Children of Men is smaller scoped Sci-Fi/Thriller/Drama.

I like to call that one "weather porn".

I plan to see this movie only after it is on DVD and I am strapped to a chair with my eyelids propped open. There are times I wonder if they hold anyone responsable for these B movies being made with a 9 figure budget.

now what would make a more interesting plot, is if all the men on earth died. Woman would have to clone each other just for humanity to survive.

I want to go see it. I like the fact that it doesn't seem like all the other end of the world movie films and seems to have substance.

Reminds me somewhat of an old Frank Herbert story, "The White Plague". Pretty scary predictions made in that book....

Catholics aren't allowed to use birth control. Prons is saying he was shooting live ammo for one week and that resulted in China's one billion population. See the Monty Python "Meaning of Life" film for details. Specifically the "Every Sperm is Sacred" song and dance number.

Seconded.

Already been done long before the thread subject was thought up.

No, if I was not Catholic there'd be only half a billion. Needless to say China sends me a fruit basket every week.

What about this implies B-Movie? This isn't Snakes On A Plane or Fast and the Furious.

Its the 3rd best reviewed movie thats gotten a wide release (below The Departed & Casino Royale, above Borat).

Budget is estimated around 78 Mill.

Wasn't this supposed to come out back in the summer? I remember all the magazines had it in their previews.

Anyway, Julianne Moore rules in anything. And Clive Owen is hot.

It just premiered in the US today? Strange, my uncles had already seen it when we asked them which movies have they seen recently on XMAS Eve.

Though, Hollywood movies premiereing a few days in Mexico before the US has happened before. I saw X-Men 2 1 day too early.

I'm planning on seeing this movie eventually after hearing a lot of good comments about it.
