Which what they are making this movie for I'll bet, to sell toys. Thats what the show was for from the beginning, why should this movie be different

At least it has Cullen as Prime... a REAL voice actor and not a celebrity voice.
I'm pissed they don't use the classic transformation sound.
Looks good even if I still hate the designs XD

The designs make sense. Even if the story turns out to be less than stellar, the effects should make up for it. Although if both are good, it'll be a win-win situation.

the designs are too complex for my taste. We see too much of the transformer's innard...like you peeled the skin off a human to see the bones and muscles.
My aesthetic sense prefer simplier, cleaner lines.

I personally didn't like the trailer - too many quick cuts to see anything meaningful. I wasn't "teased" by it, I was annoyed.
Prime looks good, and I've seen pics of Bumblebee in humanoid form, who also looks good. I'm guessing that the emphasis on their camoflaged forms will be on accuracy to the form being mimicked, so I think that aspect will be okay. What I've seen of Megatron's humanoid form looks more like an H.R. Giger design than anything else, but I'm willing to suspend disbelief until I see it. I'm glad Starcream's in the picture, though.
I dunno, the more info I see, the more this looks like a rental. Maybe once they get a better trailer up, I'll want to see it on the big screen.

Watch it a few times to really see better... I want to see a full transformation though. I agree some quick cuts were annoying. I hope we get one with more dialogue too.
That scorponok still looks terrible. Just like a freakish piece of living junk really... at least Ratchet look like a HUMANOID pile or living scrap metal. --

My two cents:
-Blackout (helicopter) just looks awesome tearing up that army base
-I have no idea what to make of Scorponok, seriously
-I like how Starscream's an F-22 Raptor in the movie, but they still couldn't have made him red?
-Apparently Spike likes the Strokes
-Why does Ratchet look like EVA-02?
-It's too bad the people had VW had to suck and make it so Bumblebee can no longer become a bug (not even in the toys!)
-I still really hope they cast Frank Welker to play Megatron
Anything concerning my favorite character, Optimus Prime:
-I couldn't be happier to see him being played by Peter Cullen (which, IMO, makes him a more authentic Prime than any of the others in the past decade or so)
-Why no trailer?
-My favorite design so far
-Who cares about anything at all? He's OPTIMUS ****ING PRIME!!!! :w00t:

They still could have choose a better vehicle than a frickin' Camaro for Bumblebee.
How about a Civic? It's small and teenager-friendly.
What type of car is Classic Bumblebee? That fits well.

A yellow Volkswagon Beetle. Unfortunately VW filed a complaint to Hasbro saying that they don't want their cars to be depicted as "war machines", so Bumblebee can never again be allowed to look like a VW Bug again (the exact reason he was called Bumblebee in the first place)

Starscream was a white F-15 Thrust was a red jet. The original seekers were:
Starscream: White
Thundercracker: Blue
Skywarp: Black
In the 2nd series they added
Thrust: Red
Ramjet: White
Dirge: Blue

Not enough in the trailer to equate goodness. So far, the movie still stinks of fail. A couple of things blow up and thats it. We got more Tyrese in that trailer than we got Autobots.

Uhh...that's not why they killed him off...
In the 20th Anniversary DVD commentary about it, they talk about how at the time they thought Transformers was merely a "toy show", and they thought that by killing off all of the original characters and introducing new ones, they would be able to come out with a new toy line. Since the people behind it got so many complaints from kids and parents alike, thy decided that they had no choice but to bring Optimus Prime back in the 3rd season. Good call.

Cybertron Starscream trapped Megatron in a bubble force field that could only be broken once he and Scourge worked together while Starscream was taking on THE ENTIRE AUTOBOT TEAM and still got away with the Omega Lock. That's a lot more than what G1 Starscream ever did. He kept his crown longer too.
And for your information, Dinobot is the best TF character ever. Code of Hero FTW!

I'd want Soundwave to be a stealth bomber like Cybertron Soundwave... I think it's a fitting look.
You know I noticed there is three general reaction to this movie:
1)"ACK! This is horrible! THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE G1! Michael Bay is RAPING MY CHILDHOOD! KILL HOLLYWOOD!"
2) "Bleh I don't like the designs, too many details for no reason/too ugly/too monstrous/too Hollywood, but I'll still go see the movie nonetheless."
3) "This is frickin AWESOME! I'll go see the movie! If you don't like the designs you're just a bunch of elitist G1 fanboys!"

I always liked Grimlock. He reminds me of Detritus from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Not real quick on the uptake, but a force to be reckoned with once he gets an idea stuck in his head.

You mean the Starscream who created the most powerful gestalt outside Predaking, the Starscream who who through cunning defeated from the most powerful autobot and decepticon and then screwed over Unicron? The bearer of the immortal spark that cannot be extinguished? Why gosh darn he never thought to trap the G1 Megatron in a force field, why if only Trailbreaker knew the Cybertronian civil war would not have dragged on for millions of years. I do not watch the new transformer cartoons outside of Beast Wars, because they blow.

One of the funnier things about Grimlock is he speaks in broken English in the comic but is the third in command behind Optimus and Ultra Magnus. He is more of a flinty old veteren and actually led all the autobots through several story arcs and developed a psychopathic hatred of Bumblebee. He even sent out kill teams to hunt down and execute him.

Lol. I remember that from the comics too. It was quite funny that Grimlock became the leader. I'm guessing it was because of popularity that he was given that position, plus he's quite the Autobot for anyone to contend with.:P
The tension between Grimlock and Bumblebee was always pretty funny too. Grimlock, the HUGE guy, would just push his weight around and paid Bumblebee, the relatively little guy, no respect. It was interesting how Bumblebee went around gathering help from Autobots who felt the same way about Grimlock's leadership and then all of the battles that occurred during all of that. My collection of that is really incomplete though. Those were just issues that I picked up about a decade ago from dollar bins and used book stores. Maybe I'll feel inclined to look for the entire collection sometime on eBay or other places... or maybe Marvel will release them in an anthology if they haven't already.
Anyway, yeah, the movie looks cool.:)

I liked how the vehicles blend in more. They're surrounding the transformers with other vehicles of the same kind. If they use that to their advantage, they can create quite a bit of suspense, for example: the landing strip where there were a bunch of jets. You wouldn't know which one was starscream until you were in the fray, and he transformed on top of you.
What I don't like is that this movie has the writer of Catwoman, and the director of The Island (or is he producing, I can never remember). This movie has a lot of fail potential, but I'm hopeful. I'm going to wait on reviews before I spend my $8 on this.

Michael Bay is directing, Spielberg is the producer.
Hopefully the writer will understand that it's not ALL about the humans but it's also about the Transformers and give them actual personality.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."
If you load the trailer on the official site ( http://www.transformersmovie.com/main.html ) you can hear Cullen say it at the end of the trailer when the 'Transformers' logo shows up.
Altough I didn't know that was how to pronounce 'sentient'... maybe it's an American thing? I always pronounced it with the first 't' being like the last 't' in 'attention' since it's after a 'n' and all... guess I was wrong??
