When Kenpachi and Ichigo fought with each other why does Kenpachi say that Ichigo won the fight.
I mean it looked like a draw to me, if anything Ichigo hit the ground first.

because kenpachi was more seriously wounded, plus it might be that nobody had ever inflicted that bad of damage on kenpachi before. EVER

Perhaps Kenpachi considers anything other than a complete win on his part a loss. It's the 11th Unit mentality, no quarter given or asked.

I can understand that his Zanpakuto was broken but that dosnt mean defeat, and as for his injuries yeah he was injured badly but Ichigo wasnt exactly dancing around.
I guess it could be like Blackknight said, anything less than a complete win is a loss, he expected to beat Ichigo and a win to him means the opponent dies, but when he fought Ikkaku he let him live so he would have another chance to fight him, i dont think he counts that battle as defeat.
