new opening

Jesus what is this opening? I can't tell if its for the manga cannon or if its for the movie but whatever it is it looks sweet.

Lots of unknown characters, I guess they are hints for the next arc, but I really don't know.

I think its from the movie, which comes out in Japan this month.

The aspect ratio is different and the animation is clearly much better. The characters just don't look like they are from the manga and what little I know about the next story arc suggests that they aren't from it. However, the opening shows Rukia using a shikai, which would probably not show up in filler episodes before it actually happens in the anime.

if there is a bleach movie coming out soon then its pretty much a given that the opening, other then the song, is for that movie

So is this strictly a Shinigami storyline? Because I didn't see Chad, Orihime, Ishida or any of the other Scoobies in the trailer.

It's not like Orhime, Chad, or Ishida can really do anything at this point. Seriously, even in the filler, only Ishida does anything and it wouldn't be feasible to give him his powers back just for the movie. Not to mention it would be silly to have to keep repeating the process. Hopefully there will be another movie in which Chad and Ishida can do something. As for Orihime, let's face it, she's never going to amount ot anything as a fighter.

I haven't read the manga beyond what Viz has licensed, so I was spoiled by that too. But I've heard bigger spoilers, so its not that big of a deal in comparison. Still, I would have liked to find out when I was supposed to...

Well, I think it was safe to assume that was going to happen eventually anyway. Or at least I did. Not to mention, I heard something about Rukia getting impaled in a battle in a recent chapter. But yeah, I suppose it is a bit of a spoiler in that sense.

The coolest thing about the opening is seeing Rukia finally release her Zanpaktou. (Shikai)
