Okay, so I decided to make a thread about it, sue me. Didn't wanna flood the OTD with a bunch of release dates, and controversies, so I'll narrow it down to one thread. So yeah, let's get 'er started.
Nas' CD leaked.

I'm starting to think album leaks in the hip hop world are planned the same way the release parties are. There's more to PE than a foil/comic relief. The Bomb Squad and Professor X demonstrated a great talent for using noise, harsh beats and the Amen breakbeat.

That's been obvious for the longest time. I've lost faith in mainstream hip hop in any case. No real reason for me to care about producers since they're getting paid for very little effort and no one wants to breakout of the 90 bpm hole they've dug themselves into for fear of losing airplay.

"Let There Be Light" was an awesome song on Nas's new album.
I wouldn't be surprised if this album didn't do to well in the sales, there isn't much talk about women, money, candy paint, or ridin dirty. In other words, its a more adult album.

If that's the case then I might just buy it. I'm tired of all that BS in hip hop and reggaeton is shaping up to be all that in Spanish.

Axl, I hate to say it but reggaeton seems like its here to stay. Everything about it is worth hating yet people (ghetto hispanics that, gasp, don't know spanish) love that s**t. However spanish hip hop is more interesting, in terms of lyrics and flow (beatwise still pretty weak but not as weak) when compared to that genre yet it gets no burn. Give me Akwid and Jae-P and I'd take it easily over the reggaeton crap.
Hey just curious, is anyone going to any of the Roots concerts in the jbl ads? Its funny I find out about it by the various ads on the subway and not a single show in the NYC area.

Ive got tickets but don't know if I'm going to make it. I just see no redeeming value in reggaeton, no skill is needed to make a track, no lyrical depth, nothing to hold my interest. Give me the Nortec Collective or Control Machete anyday over "Generic Reggaeton Artist #1000"

Okay, now this is a really risque move, but once you've sampled a little bit of concious/smart rap, I'll tell you to cautiously sample some Canibus. Try not to explode your braincells tho. Before that though, check out the album "Blackstar" by Mos Def and Talib Kweli. I loved this album a LOT. I heard rumors of a new Blackstar CD, and I'm hoping to God that this rumor is true. Besides those two, try Nas if you already haven't, for lyrical content, and Last Emperor, just because he did Secret Wars. Now if you're looking for flow, and style, you don't need to look much farther than Ludacris. He may be mainstream, but dammit, he has skill. Also check out Biggie, his style is incredible.
EDIT: So has anyone heard Everready by Tech N9ne yet? I'm liking this.

I jus dl'd the track Nas put out with Snoop, aint listend yet tho.
Tech9ne is dope, aint heard his album, he still in the regime???
I seen dude live, sh*t was krazy.
Snoops "the blue carpet treatment" is seriously cool. His best album for a while, an one of his best.
Games last album was cool, despite Dre's name mentioned too much, game soundin like dre in a couple songs, an dre imatation beats, good album.
Bone thuggs album cool too, short, but jus a lil undrground album(thugg stories), like a preview to their major comin next.
New Dogg Pound album comin soon(dogg chit), looks cool as, with Snoop, Bad azz, RBX, Galsses Malone, The game, Too $hort, Brotha Lynch Hung, BG Knocc Out, Dresta, etc.
Oh yeah, Dre's Detox IS comin in 2007. And newest Aftermath westcoast sighnie, Bishop Lmaont, comin next year too.

Yeah, I think Tech is still with regime. It's worth a listen, I liked it. But about BTNH, I really think they fell off during ressurrection. It was okay, but no where near their usual state. And saying Game name dropped is like saying I have hair on my head. It's a given. In Nas' song (Hustlers) he wouldn't stop saying Nas' name. And I heard about three songs off Snoops album (wannabe's, vato, and I forgot the other one). They were okay, but nothing like his old school gangsta ****.
FOR MY PEEPS:
Laffy Taffy Rots Your Teeth (http://www.laffytaffyrotsyourteeth.com/)
MY REASON FOR HAVING IT UP:
It's a free downloadable track put out by the people that made it. So it's not illegal, because it's a free album.

Dont sleep on Snops album, its the most gangsta/aggressive album he's done for a long while, yet still has the laid back joints like "thats that" with R,Kelly, Akon on two songs("i wanna f**k you" & "Boss Life") and Nate dogg on there("Crazy"), an yeah, the track with Dre "imagine" also got D'angelo on there, but the album overal is pretty gangsta.
"Vato" was jus a street single really, he shootin the vidoe for "candy" next, thats another joint that aint really a radio freindly one, it features Mc Eiht, Goldie Loc, Daz, Kurupt & E-40.
Theres way better songs on the album than all these single though. I like the one with R.kelly i have to say, an i neva liked that dudes music before.
An yeah, Snoop an Suge Knight squashing their beef didnt last long, lol.
Oh yeah, i got Ice-T's new album, dude aint relevant(sp?) anymore, but dudes a ledgend, had to get it. He spits some nice lines, he still got it, but some of the album is jus the same old.

So, I was browsing through Virgin Megastore yesterday and I decided to pick up Talib Kweli's second(?) album The Beautiful Struggle. Good sh!t, I must say. In terms of beats its right there with K-OS in terms of production. Very well structured. Although, for some reason in one of the songs his flow sounds a bit slower than the beat. Kinda. Sorta. Still a great album. I'm definitely gonna pick up his first album for sure. Probably look for some Common stuff as well.

Ah, yesh, yesh. Talib's first album quality was pretty nice. So was his ablum with hi-tek, Reflection Eternal. Among them all though, I still say "Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star" has to be up there was my favourite collabs, and somewhat, my favourite Kweli album.
White rappers? Yeah there's a lot of them. Aesop Rock has one of the most unique voices; it took me awhile to get used to for some reason. Eyedea and Abilities is up there with too, along with Atmosphere and Non-phophets (Sage Francis & Dj Joe Beats) make up some of my fav emcee and dj combos, they happen to be white too. Annnddd, at the time, everyone knows they were feeling Vanilla Ice. After his whole "Go ninja, go ninja, go!" TMNT plug; that might be a different story.
C. L. Smooth released an album lately; I really wish him and Pete Rock would hook back up. Rakim and Eric. B, Gang starr. Mmm, it would be nice.

Are you kidding me? My eyes can't believe what they're seeing. This must be hyper-go-go-world where people can actually create a hip-hop without all the flaming and chaos!
Anyway, I got out of the mainstream stuff some years ago. I was listening to the worst of the worst at that time--- Lil' Wayne, Three Six Mafia, Juvenile, and other Southern rap garbage. It wasn't until I stopped and actually listened to some of the lyrics. I couldn't believe what the hell I was listening to. Pure tripe, it was. I felt ashamed and dirty. Then I stumbled onto the likes of the Roots, Talib Kweli, Pharcyde, and other artists and groups that were different from the terrible norm.
Nowadays, I find myself listening to a great variety of music (house, metal, lounge/chill-out, trip-hop, game arrangements and remixes, etc.) and greatly detesting the music I had once listened to religiously. This Southern rap crap HAS TO DIE OUT. NOW. It is, without a doubt, some of the worst form of music --- and I use that term VERY loosely in the case --- to come possibly ever. It is an incredible insult to those who do possess skills and talent.
Oh, I LOVE instrumental hip-hop from the likes of Fat Jon and J-Dilla (GO PICK UP DONUTS, NOW!).
Drifting away from my rant, who's that guy in Atmosphere? Is that his name or just the name of the group? He's a white MC and dude can flow. Like PE187 said, you'd be surprised at the amount of talented white MCs out there. Thing is, they most likely wouldn't get radio or video airplay from anyone. We have witness the utter crappiness from people like Paul Wall and Bubba Sparxxx. Eminem is an obvious exception, but his music jusr doesn't interest me.

The only thing stupid about southern rap is you if you listen to it for lyrics, seriously when I'm in the club grinding with a girl the last thing I want to hear is something like...
Canibus is the ultimate executioner's dream
Swingin the guillotine, cause whenever the head is severed
from the human body with a sharp enough weapon
the brain remains conscious for ten seconds
Long enough for me to give you one last message
And when you get to Hell you can tell Lucifer I said it
Visualizin the realism of life and actuality
**** who's the baddest a person's status depends on salary
And my mentality is, money orientated
I'm destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it
cause yeah, we were beginners in the hood as five percenters
But somethin must of got in us cause all of us turned to sinners
I mean you can have one person listen to say... Young Jeezy's new album and go omg these lyrics are crap and then have another listen to say... the second Canibus album and call the beats crap.... wtf is wrong with both of you people!
There's a time and place for different forms of hiphop, the sad thing is the people who just stick to underground view themselves as superior and it's laughable. These people won't even admit when stuff like Lil Wayne shading Andre 3000 on Hollywood happened.
I'll drop some thoughts on the last few albums I've heard
AZ - Premo's track is a banger (best beat i've heard from him in ages!) but the rest is meh
Jay-Z - Disappointing, though Prelude is an absolute banger.
Snoop Dogg - Best album since Tha Last Meal
Fat Joe - Wack
Birdman and Lil Wayne - Slightly less wack than Fat Joes
Clipse - Meh blah what, sum it up.
Jim Jones - Has one banger for the whip and the rest is crap
Young Jeezy - Bangs in the ride
Mos Def - Please rap again
ReUp - Has Eminem's best track in ages (last song on album)
Nas - Disappointing, only track close to classic is the 2nd Kanye produced song with the poor mans Anthony Hamilton. With the beats on this album I have no idea why he even signed with Def Jam.
Also Guru from Gangstarr is the most overated underground mc ever, monotone and boring he got exposed lately when Premo went through a dry patch.

Totally agree 100% with this statement. There is a time and place for everything. That example with Canibus in the club was hilarious.
About Beautiful Struggle. A lot of people that have heard it (that I know), were saying that wasn't his best, probably his worst (but then again, even his worst is great). Heh, I have to agree that is true. I actually remember a time I was on the way to the club, and listened to Nas "Drunk By Myself" and "Undying Love" on the way there; that killed my whole mood.
You just made me sad Van. I guess I would've found out by myself, but I was expecting for a good listen out the Nas album. And AZ. Gah, Jim Jones is coming to town Saturday, and I'm almost tempted to go, but I have never been a fan of him, nor Dipset at all. I was digging Juelez when he first came out (until I listened to his whole album and quickly forgot about him) I havn't liked Cam'ron since House n Carriage. Oh Boy was hot for the time, but not sure anymore.

You might like it but honestly it didn't do much for me, i'll definately rank Illmatic, Lost Tapes, Stillmatic and It Was Written above it. Drunk By Myself is much better than any track on HHID though since it's one of my fav Nas tracks period I might be a tad biased.
The Nas & Jigga collab is cool and all but I'm one of the few people who would've preferred to listen to a Jay-Z and AZ collab ahead of that.
I'm positive if there wasn't bad blood between Nas & Jay-Z in the the mid to late ninties we would've got quite a few collabs between them.
Just read Nas signed Royce Da 5'9 to a record deal, about time he signed an mc who can actually rip it on the mic.

I don't blame Jeezy for going off at Nas, how Nas going to imply the south killed hiphop after he cosigned Ja Rule of all people and even appeared on Lil Jons cd? You know Lil Jon probably the #1 reason for the south's current reign on top of the mainstream... Aside from T.I and Luda he's the biggest name from the south, speaking about Luda anyone else think he's 2-0 against Nas? He bodied him on Virgo and just got him on the Made You Look Remix.
As for Royce I think he's signed through Def Jam though I'm not sure what happened to Nas' Ill Will Records on Sony. I think it closed after that horrible Bravehearts album...

but before she drops the money bag on the floor and died
she said if you really love me, ill come back alive

SYNOPSIS
Now lets get some things straight since its a story there's characters, setting and plot
the plot is who killed hip-hop?
the setting is 1930s the golden era; the manifestation of jazz, mobsters, bootlegging and organized crime
the characters are nas the detective and his partner joe da butcher
freckle face who is joe da butchers connection to the underworld
and hip-hop who is the girl in the story a.k.a. the gal
now what happens is pretty mike and two face al kill each other and the gal runs off with the money
pretty mike and two face al are B.I.G. & Tupac and its a psuedonym for Hip-Hop maximizing its commercialism which is why the gal runs off with the money
the murder of two face al is directly referencing tupac dying first
now this all occured at some club where the classic jams go on sung by the gal
that is why nas says damn that was my jam because she will never be singing there again
the setting is further portrayed through the uses of a microphone cord as the murder weapon and the fact the body was found in the aisle
Now, Joe Da Butchers represent the average hip-hop listener
His name simply breaks down to joe a.k.a. the average joe schmo and da butcher part is a reference to "chewing the fat" which means just kicking simple convo chillin
Now after joe mentions to nas that he realizes he's falling for her nas hits the bar a lil aggitated.
He realizes its the same scene at the bar but says **** it and drinks are on him. That represents nas going commercial and he admits it, but tries to counteract that by saying "but I always felt outta place" which means he sold out but still puts out real Hip-Hop.
The symbolism in the bar scene is that joe the da butcher is nas partner but his southern connects (freckle face and company) are involved wit this crime
joe is none the wiser a.k.a. the average listener supports southern music regardless of all this south trash talk (jeezy, ludacris, lil jon, rick ross)
nas gets a lil ticked off and heads outside and realizes the gal has been trailin him the whole time
that's basically saying that even though he didn't know it, Hip-Hop HAS been followin him for a while
next thing she steps out the shadow and he says "all this time she had me in her scope"
in her scope = interscope
nas starts the story saying "death by strangulation" but "death" = Def(Jam)
Basically he was saying that Def Jam started the "killing" (when it commercialized hip-hop) and now interscope
runs it
at this point he is saying the Crackers took control of the art hence the reference to "Conspiracy Theories" behind this "whodunit"
"that's why Eric B is not president" pretty much sums it up
so Def Jam chokeholded the game and then other labels like universal picked it up.
at this point nas has some evidence so he starts interrogating the broad
"I know you have soul quit tryin to hide it" is obviously saying that hip-hop has soul but its obscured by the commercialism
NaS uses the interrogation wisely by bringing up cypress hill and snoop dogg referencing the classics just flippin the phrases
If you can't figure this out then your pretty ****in stupid:
She (Hip-Hop) supposedly killed a man in cypress - Cypress Hill "How I could just kill a man".
(Alternate Meaning/Possible Reference: When "she" {Hip-Hop} supposedly killed a man in cypress it could also be a reference to the end of the The Bridge Wars and the Death of DJ Scott LaRock. The Bridge Wars was a Hip-Hop rivalry during the mid-to-late 1980s and early 1990s, that arose from a dispute over the true birthplace of hip hop music and retaliation over the rejecting of a record for airplay. The Bridge Wars originally involved The South Bronx's Boogie Down Productions, led by KRS-One, and Marley Marl's Juice Crew, hailing from Queensbridge. The rivalry resulted in DJ Scott LaRock being killed in the South Bronx, Cypress Projects....but I think there's a Cypress Projects in B.K so i'm not sure.....Nevertheless the The Bridge Wars was the beginning of the BEEF Era when Hip-Hop started gettin' Violent over lyrics)
And one eyed charlie (krs-one) who only hangs with the criminal minded (BDP) said they did it doggystyle (snoop dogg) but obviously referencing sex
at this point she puts everything in perspective for nas IN ORDER because nas was out of chronological order by mentioning 92 then 91 then 88:
so she begins by asking him to "walk this way" (run dmc) and she will tell him a childrens story (slick rick)
this is starting out raw hip-hop in the 80s
"got her a few 40s" is now referencing the west coast era domination as well hoppin in the "ride"
at this point hip-hop started losing "it" because it was being bombarded by commercial gangsterism and losing its origins
The getting "tipsy" part refers to hip-hop totally losing control and becoming almost completely pop (the bad boy era). It can also be a refference to J-Kwon and the beat he sampled which NaS is rappin' over.
"as we got to her suave house chopped and screwed her mouth" is now moving on to the south moving on in at the close of the shiny suit era and is cleverly flipped to nas getting oral sex by hip-hop he finally gave in
after he ****s her, she spills the beans and tells him that Bill Gates sponsored her to destroy hip-hop through means of downloading and extreme piracy
Remember, hip-hop's father was a bootlegger and now her sponsor is one of the largest helpers in the creation of bootlegging
at this point she just breaks down and admits she is IMMORTAL because no regular human could be alive in BOTH slave times AND the Present.
she says she came from that era and had many lovers since but her one true love was kool herc (pioneer of hip-hop, some say sole creator)
But then she obviously ****ed him over and fell to the pressure of the root of all evil, money (the 200 grand) (by the way 200 grand in 1930 is worth MILLIONS)
At this point the gig is up and she begins to fade away magically but lets NaS know it's his inner spirit that really keeps hip-hop alive.
She really didn't need the money in the End

Yeah, the theme behind that song is pretty clear. But, at least now I got the full explanation as to who the characters are in the song.
This album is too good. Although, Let There Be Light is my favorite track so far. And Money Over Bullsh*t is a runner-up.

Yeah I gotta agree Money Over Bullsh*t was average, peeps were hyping it up on www.sohh.com (where that breakdown for Who Killed It came from) as classic ****. I was expecting something on par with the Stillmatic intro and was left completely flat.
As for Who Killed It, great concept poor execution imo, i haven't had the urge to listen to much after reading that breakdown, it's lacking compared to Fetus/Rewind.
Let There Be Light is still the clear standout track for me by far though a nice suprise is the Kelis track. Thought it was going to be a real poppy track considering Stargate the producers are behind most of Ne-yo's hits (So Sick/Sexy Love) and the current #1 track in Beyonce's Irreplaceable. Turned out to be a nice track though.
Nas really should've got the track from the Game album on here, he killed that track and the beat by Just Blaze is sublime.
Also smh at Nas acting like he never heard Stray Bullet by Organized Konfusion
Nas: " "It was Written came out first…And I was rappin bout RASTAS…But then BIG came out and made a song telling a story of a RASTA…BIG maybe not consiously knew he BIT off me…He probably did….But we'll never know cuz he's not here….PAC took I GAVE YOU POWER from me and used it and made a song based on the concept" "

With the current situation there is no way that Mannie Fr fr fr fr fr Fresh will work with Lil Wayne which is a shame. I feel Mannie is one of the most underrated producers ever due to him being the producer of Cash Money. The amount of work this guy put in and he released tight beat after tight beat. Heck 'Connected For Life' of Mack 10's Cash Money album is ****ing awesome and sounds nothing like Mannie's stuff.

Illmatic, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, It Was Written (the good half is really good, pushes it above the rest of his albums), don't bother with the rest.
The original version of I Am would be one of his best too but bootleggers made him change it around sadly, though a few tracks did end up on The Lost Tapes.

Nas. GOAT?
sumwhatkrazy
March 11th, 2007, 07:24 PM
No way is Nas GOAT. I got all his albums excepet Nastradumas, the lost tapes and the queens bridge complimation he put out, so, iam a big fan.
He's been pretty consistant with his albums, of course his lyrical, but i dont think he is the greatest.
he a bit like Snoop, classic fist album, and continues to realease dope albums, but albums that arent good from finish to end.
I respect both of them for experimenting, yet keeping it the same, doin both commercial and underground.
I like the things Nas talks about, i recently got his "hip hop is dead" album, an maybe it jus aint grown on me, but it dosent seem all that great to me. He talks alot of truth and sense, thats for sure.
Having said all that, i dont know who is better, certeranly not Jay-z. But i aint heard a Jay album since like, his 3rd, so i cant really say that.
The roots are live in consert down here soon, i may go.

Its coz of lable politics/bullsh*t.
thats good new for DPG fans, but chart topping an sale wise, thats a big blow for Snoop. Nate is great, but Akon to dam big now, an that may just of been what coulda made Snoop go platnium for the 8th consecutive time..

even though there could never be an official, objective GOAT...
I think it's fair to say that Rakim is the GOAT. I can't think of one person who did more to move the genre forward as far as style, rhyme scheme and etc were concerned.. You can pretty much trace every new school favorite back to his work. DMX is dang near a carbon copy of him..
I think the next person that would Share in GOAT honors is Blackthought. Not too many people I've heard have his versatility or cleverness with the verbs. He's the complete package.
Honorable mention to MF Doom, Mos Def, and Melly Mel.

^ iagree to some extent with some of what you say. Its just sad that most of the real lyrical rappers of today just cannot make a good album. they are clearly more skilled lyrically, but just cant make great albums, if they can even get a record deal.....Crooked i anyone?
Man, Snoop ain't sellin out, he's just taking opportunities that any rapper would take. Not just rapper, ANYONE would take. In my eyes, he can do no wrong. He's made too many hot tracks to take that away. His style may have changed up, but he's still one of the OG's in the game.
I agree 100%, i was being sarcastic, but alot of ppl think he is a sellout. Ppl that have no knowledge, really, ppl that only know Snoop from seein him with Pharell an Pussycat dolls, Akon, etc.
They dont hear the rest of his album, or see all the underground sh*t he be doin.
I respect him so much, not only dose he put out so much good music, he is a very very smart buisness man. Certeranly not in all areas, but musically, he's everywhere, he's always had his own style, he's actaully a much more talent MC than ppl realise too, he can be very lyrical, he use to rap very quick and agressive, he can freestyle like a mutaphuker, puts on a good live show, etc.
From his commercial hits to his gangsat sh*t, he really dose experimant and adapt to the new times, yet manages to keep it the same at the same time.
And now, ontop of everything else, he is producing.
Alot of ppl act like your fave rapper has to be underground or a freestyler/battle rapper/super lyrical, for you to be a real hip hop head, but lyrics aint everything without a smart buisness mind or decent production, creativeness, originality, and being able to make a album that dosent only appeal to one type of fan.

Roots. I've never really gotten into them.
Blackstar man. The greatest rap duet ever! Talib Kweli and Mos Def, BOTH at their primes dropped a duo album named blackstar, and their union was named exactly that.
Message me if you'd like me to up it for you.

Ah, ok, well, i know that mos def an Talib Kweli is pretty dope, iam not overly a fan, but i have respect for them.
HIP HOP IS DEAD!
Its actually not true. Its true in the way of the marketing and buisness sense. Hip hop has been dumbed down, waterd down, and whenever theere is a trend, the record companies want theartists to jump on that, rahther thna be creative and do someting original and new.
its become to cloned an sterotypical. Artists cannot get deals.
More and more rappers are going the indie route and resoting to mix tapes and internet albums.
Musical sales in gerneral are way way down, it aint only applieing with hip hop.
Music is dead. Most music that record companies have intrest in are just for the cloned sheep, the trned followers, the band wangon jumpers, little girls. manufactured(sp?), copyin, song remakes, etc etc.
But, how can hip hop be dead? Its still alive and thriving. Sakes wise, its gone down hill, lyric wise, largely dumbed down, theres more an more pop rap an soft rap, but thats really just a sighn of the times, it has adapted an evolved and there is hip hop out there for everybodys taste.
It just seems dead because most of the reconised/sucsessful rappers are untalented or all sound the same.
How can it be dead when there are still ledgends from the golden era still doin it an puttin out new groups.
How can it be dead when its a culture and theres still graff artists, dj's freestylers, battle rappers, etc.
Rasskass, crooked i, Chino XL, Company flow, murs, blackalicious, planet asia, del &, hieroglyphics Nas ETC, all still puttin out traditional, original, lyrical, hip hop that aint jus talking about h*es, money and guns/ an that crappy club rap.
AND, KRS-1 is still alive! lol
hieroglyphics?
OMG, they are dope. One of the several westcoast hip hopers like pharcyde, murs, planet asia, etc, that dont do gangsta rap just because they can, them dudes are amazing. Del is my fave, he took a break and has been studyig music and is comin out with a new solo this year, as well as another deltron album with dan the auto mator.

I wanna get up on the Heiro, but currently, I'm gonna be reviewing Murs, by a certain members suggestion.
Man, I couldn't have put it better. Hip-Hop ain't dead. It won't be for a while. Personally, I think all music is gonna turn around, and regain it's old glory. I mean, look around. There is so much discord amongst any genre of music. There is underground rock, underground rap. I'd be surprised if there wasn't an underground country faction. A lot of people are waking up, and realizing that the music they're listening to is only a temporary buzz, and they need the real joints. It'll happen soon. I'll put my monopoly money on it.

Yup. There are alot of talented new , young up an comers, but i maust admit, ive found very few that really do it for me, so, i guess if the new rappers fail, hip hop could die.
But theres always going to be good hip hop out there, an it will never completely die.
And yes, same thing with rock, how dead is rock? it got to the point where it was the same to, and as old rockers said, there were no good guitr soloist anymore, but i bet there plenty of great rockers doin gigs that aint got record deals.
like the UK band BOA, they great, but they indie an only people who have seen the anime "lain" or accidently discover them by searching for music by the Korean pop singer BOA find them.
The best rappers just get no recignition or record deals/promotion, but its certeranly out there, an its world wide, sh*t, the new gerneration here all listen to Aussie rap/local rap, iam sure its the same all around the world.
I aint heard that many songs from murs, but what i have heard, i do like.
You should look into crooked i an raskass, try an find "the four horsemen" album that neva came out(i got a promo copy), its Kurupt(dpg), Canibus, Raskass & Killa preist(wu tang), helter skelter are the only feature i think, was dope as.

The Soopafly album is real good. It has good production, mostly a underground, darker, agressive type feel, but with song that really have tha dogg pound sound, some dope bass lines an funky sh*t, some good dpg posse cuts with Snoop, nate, daz , kurupt, etc.
The dogg pound album sounded pretty good, i been to listen to it more, its also overal, very agressive an dark, but has some laid back songs. few songs with snoop, bad azz on there, brotha lynch, too $hort, jayo felony, glasses malone, dresta, b.g knocc out, the game, etc.
Kurupt sounded a bit more vicious again on some of the tracks.
I liked the Soopafly album better.
Bar, i aint heard anythin new but canibus for a while. Whats the deal with track?
Fobb
March 25th, 2007, 07:10 AM
It's either a track with 1000 bars, or a track with infinite verses. What he's gonna do is make a song with 200 bars, or something. And there are I think 5 different ways the song can be mixed, so each time, it'll bring up a new verse each time, thus either creating the infinite track, or the 1000 bar track. It'll be called "Poet Laurette Infinity" on his new album "For Whom the Beat Tolls"

I know he's been out for a while, but I found an awesome artist: Shurik'n. He's a French rap artist who's song Samurai is the theme song for Georges St. Pierre (GSP) in the UFC. I heard the song the other day and, while I don't understand a lick of French, was awesome.
I need to get this CD if possible.

On his first 3-4 (maybe more?) albums DMX has had prayer songs. Well, they're not really songs. Just him praying in rhyme form acapella.
Slippen off his 2nd album was one of his better (and clean) songs.

But yes, it ahs been 8 years for Dre, but his third and final solo WILL be out this year.

The perfect beat by Marcelo D2 (Brazilian artist)
Classik by Bakar (French artist)
I've been listening to a lot of foreign hip-hop lately. I've found the Brazilian and French stuff to be really good. Also, the Koreans really have their game on, courtesy of Epik High.

Oh yea. Austrailia has some good stuff as well. There was this one track I heard that was set to guitar acoustics and it was tight.
On the subject of not understanding what the artist is saying, I don't have to. In recent times, I've decided that music is better felt, not heard. If the track is giving off a good vibe and beat, then I could care less about the language.
