I remember it, obligatory "Where the Battletech DVD?" remark.

Laugh if you want, but that cartoon was a rose blossoming in the pile of manure that was network animation at the time. Two words: Scrappy Doo.

Besides, Toei's name is in the credits. That makes it anime, right? :naughty:

I think D&D was one of the few animated shows I watched on network TV by that point. By then, you had to turn to Nickelodeon and the cable stations for the cool shows like Dangermouse, Inspector Gadget, The Transformers, Voltron and Mysterious Cities of Gold.

I don't see what made Dungeons and Dragons so much different from Scrappy Doo. I used to watch D&D, but I wouldn't make the mistake of considering it to be above other cartoons of the time. It was amusing... but I wouldn't watch it again, even on TV.

I'm not trying to be hostile, I just don't understand why you regard D&D as being so much better than all the other apparently similar cartoons of the day.

Now you're talking. I never got into Voltron, partly 'cause it wasn't on TV over here, but the other shows you mentioned there were much better cartoons than D&D.

In the dying days of FoxKids they started airing D&D. Now being from where I am I had never seen that cartoon as a kid thus it was a brand new experience without the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia...

Needless to say I didn't like it at all. Bleh. Why is the guy with the shield always hiding behind others?

But I do agree it's better than a LOT of crap that was on back in the days.

Like Transformers G1.

*waits for the G1 Fans to try and attack him*

I remember Dungeon and Dragons!

I also remember every few years someone would ask if they ever made it home in the end, which they didn't because the kept going back for that stupid unicorn!

I'm just saving up to get me the Thundercats DVDs - I'm skint at the moment, but I'm due to start work again soon.

Did Dungeons and Dragon even USED D20s in it's first version???

No, despite what people think.

I remember using a 20-sided die when playing the original D&D. It's possible they were added in one of the many supplemental rule sets, I guess, but there were TSR rules covering the use of d20's prior to the release of AD&D.

...i don't really care if it was ever used in the original. 20-sided dies are awesome. and they taste good too. besides, i can make a roll for saving throw for evasion of this boxset.

Hmm, if I had some spare money lying around, I'd prefer to get the somewhat ridiculously over-priced BBC Shakespeare Plays DVDs, which I've only discovered recently:

Sadly, I was a big fan. I can't believe I got all angsty about some episodes.

I so hope I was under 7 years old when this happened, because othewise it would be even more embarrassing.
