can't say I'm suprised, anytime there is the ablilty to make money and do very little, there are plenty of people that jump at the chance, and pirating movies (especially in a shiny new format like blu-ray) is where they'll go. I do find it rather humourous that blu-ray was supposed to be this "unpiratable" format when they talked about it early on, then only a few weeks after the first "cheap" blu-ray playing device hits the shelfs someones already able to copy them. lol @ technology

And just think, it'll only cost you $500 to buy a burner then $25 a blank disc to pirate a $29.99 movie...

Though from what ive heard they're going to make it where you can play games/movies off of the harddrive.

Why are people making a big deal out of this?
I have a BD writer and I've been able to read/write and rip BD with the new version of Nero.

That's not surprising, considering a high percentage of Blu Ray discs run at $34.95 a pop.

Why are people making that claim when they really don't? I've been to Best Buy in the past few weeks and its a small percentage that are $35 dollars.

I don't own a Blu Ray player or collect/buy BR discs, so I really shouldn't say that about BR disc pricing. I did see Blazing Saddles for $18.99 on Blu Ray. Maybe I'm just ragging on Blu Ray and being biased since I own a HD DVD player. I should compare prices of the same movie on both formats. I know I saw Blazing Saddles for $25 HD DVD, and $18/19 on Blu Ray. It just seems that Blu Ray discs are higher priced from looking in BR/HD DVD(stores lump them togother more often than not)displays. In a Circuit City nearby where I work, Blu Ray discs cost more and are either $25 or $35, while all HD DVDs are $25.

Haro!

Yes they're being bootlegged! I mean... Yeah well I already have a BD drive as well as a player so it benefits me I guess. I don't know why people make such a fuss about the pricing. Eventually it'll go down, and it makes for a pretty good storage solution (if you're like me that's obsessed with backing things up, on several formats several times). Oh and the picture is awesome ^_^
