Yeah another "Oh god it's christmas and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing" thread. I'm trying to buy A SPECIAL SOMEONE~!!!! a headset for their COMPUTER, but I'm trying to find something that doesn't act as "headset," or can be switched on and off, so music can still play through the speakers, but has a microphone that can just simply be placed on the head. Instead of having to hold up a microphone. Anyone know what to look for, or a good brand or something?

Yeah lazyness.

Well they can get pretty expensive... if you get the wireless ones i've seen them for almost 1000$. A good brand is Logitech, and they make a ton of headset orientied type things.

so music can still play through the speakers

good luck with that.

I actually think I had one a while ago with a microphone that didn't turn on/off, I'll look for it.

PC headsets generally come with 2 plugs. a green one for the headphones, and a pink one for the microphone

get any one, and don't plug in the green plug. simple, no?

You just need to get a microphone and an audio lead to link the computer & speakers. It doesn't need to be an astounding microphone for gaming, but don't go super-cheap (because it's a bad gift for your special someone, for a start).
