When I was younger it was always real. Getting the family out and picking one out was always fun, but now that we're all older it doesn't really matter as long as we're all together during the day of.

When I was in Maine, we'd go cut a real tree, drag it back, etc. Once I left Maine, there didn't seem to be any point. This year, I'll probably go with a sturdy aluminum pole.

Is there an option for none instead of don't get one? I would like to get one, but too poor.

We always get a real tree from the flower shop.
My grandparents get a fake one from Walmart.
Grandma's decorations sure kick the hell out of ours, though. We've finally successfully decapitated/maimed/slaughtered/mutilated then tried to fix with super glue all of our ornaments. Pinocchio was the first to go.

We always have a fake one. My family use to get real ones before I was born, but they decided to change because real ones were too much trouble. One year I'd like to have a real one though.

There's pros to both for me...
PRO for real:the smell--especially when you vacuum up the fallen needles and your vacuum smells like christmas for a month afterwards.
PRO for fake: It can be put up earlier.
I have my fake one up right now. We put it up the day after Thanksgiving. O.O

All the trouble you go through with it is part of the tradition ^_^

Real trees, thank you ^_^. I like the smell of pine, and the real trees are so much prettier.
*sigh* Christmas.....How I love it....

I haven't had a real one since I was 11. They're cool and all, but fake is just a lot more convenient/ less messy.

Never had a real Christmas tree in my whole life. However out in our back yard is a huge pine tree that my dad and I decorate with lights, since it's ~30 feet tall, and damn near lights up the whole back yard when it's finished I think that makes up for not having a real Christmas tree inside :).

We can't have Christmas trees, period. This is because we have three rambunctious cats who wouldn't hesitate in tearing down our tree.

We've always had a fake tree. My mom is allergic to real Christmas trees. I really never minded since it was only a decoration.

You kids nowadays and your real Christmas trees... What next? Potted Meat Sanmiches? :x You people disgust me!!
Anywho, to my knowledge, we've always had fake trees. I just don't see my dad like going out of his way to like get a real tree... That Grouch... or Grinch. Hmm, I bet like the Grinch is a Grouch, but he thought he was too good to live in a garbage can or somethin'. Maybe he was orphaned. No one say anything.

We have a fake tree we use every year. The only problem with it is that since my mom works at a nursery I have to call it a "permanent" tree instead of a fake tree >_<

Real tree. I haven't gotten one yet for this year but I will get one in a week or so as I already have the ornaments which are red and look nice. I don't even like red.

I always get a real one the day after Thanksgiving. It may always be dead by the time Christmas hits, but hey it's tradition at my house

We've used the same fake tree in my family since before I was born. Real trees are nice, but messy, that's a given. I suppose it depends on your decorum as well.

Real Christmas trees are overrated. They involve special maintenence like a girl. Fake trees FTW. Don't have to worry about the heat killing it.

It takes a real man to get a real tree (to follow up the borderline sexist tone you were going for.) Fake trees weigh like 5 pounds and can be set up by a 6 year old girl. Real trees weigh 50+ pounds and have to be cut down and transported using hard work and GUTS.
And "heat killing it"? I could make any number of emasculating comments regarding your apparent inability to care for a plant or tolerate reasonable mild temperatures, but there's probably no need.

I think those white fake Christmas trees looks better than the real/fake green ones.... It just looks more artful when decorated with a two-colour schemed ornaments (usually Gold and Blue)...

We always use a fake one. Real ones are a real hassel. Plus our fake tree actually does look real so it is all good.

personally I love the piny smell of a real Spruse on a christmas morning, it's like being out doors without being out doors. the only down side, is Christmas trees alone around here cost about $45.00 and we got a big house so that would mean more then just one christmas tree. and so the fake tree is a lot cheeper in the long run. still i'd get myself a real christmas tree if i had the money for it on occasions.
And to say the Tree dies befor xmas is an oxymoron to me, the tree died the moment your beheaded it from it's roots, yes you can keep it looking nice longer by watering it, but it'll eventually wilt and look ugly anyway.

We don't have pine trees in our tropical territory so we buy fake ones.

the real thing that i love more than anything is we put a big cut bag under the tree to catch the needles, and then we put em in a big pit out back and on christmas eve we burn them with about 20 of us around the pit, then i wip out the guitar, my friend gets her violin, and my uncle gets his sax and we just pretty much waste the night away.

fake coz they dont leave needles everywhere, you can re-use em, and they're easier to decorate.

Except environmental degradation.:naughty:
Most real trees used for christmas are grown on farms, and will have totally decomposed within a few years of being cut down, if not sooner.
Most fake trees, on the other hand, are made of plastics that will be sitting around in landfills polluting the earth for thousands of years after you've gone and died.
