Who was the actual pilot of the original RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam? I'm putting together a model/figure display and I'm listing all the pilots with the gundams and every other gundam (78-2 to 78-6) has a pilot.

At first I was inclined to go with Werz from the Gundam novels, but that seemed a bit sketchy what with no rank and his prototype gundam looking totally different, now I'm leaning towards this new character from 'Spirits Of Zeon'; LTJG Farrell Iha, since he actually pilots an RX-78-1, and as far as I know there was only one of those units built.

There was more than one test pilot, last I heard.

And there were three prototype units. RX-78-1, 2 and 3.

More than that.

1 RX-78-1
3 RX-78-2's
1 RX-78-3

Had the RX-78-1 been tested by the time it arrived at Side 7?

I think the RX-78-1 was designed, built and tested before the 3 RX-78-2 units were built and transported to side 7 for testing. As far as I can tell the was only one of the RX units built with the number RX-78-1.

BTW, mahq has appeared to have answered my initial question, they've added Farrell Iha as the pilot for the Prototype Gundam in the MSV section.
