Bah! My audio is being very very very gay. Randomly it will slow down sort of and then the sound will get all crunchy and ****ed. It's like...stuttering kind of...It's all low too. Any ideas of wtf happened and/or how to fix it? :( I doubt it but...Yeah

What sort of things are you doing when this happens? Are you playing music? Movies? Games?

I asume you've done the basics, such as scanning your computer for malware of all kinds. Did you look in Device Manager to see if there could be a driver problem?

Lets take it one step at a time though. First explain the symptoms more clearly, and then we can take a better guess at how to fix it.

It's any kind of audio. And it doesn't happen ALL the time. Only occasionally. It's hard to explain...It's kind of like...lagging...I guess is how I could explain it. And it hurts my ears :( And how doth one scan one's computer for such things? >_> Sorry I'm Amish.

Well I assume you have a virus scanner installed. If not, then you really should get one. Use the AVG free edition (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/products-avg-anti-virus-free-edition/lng/us/tpl/tpl01), if you don't already have something. For other kinds of malware, such as adware or spyware, use either Spybot - Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) or Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/). Neither of them catch everything, so a lot of users will run both. I use both myself.

It's not entirely likely that your problem is caused by those issues, but it never hurts to eliminate a potential problem. At least then you will know that's not the issue.

That can't hurt your computer, it can only help, so you might as well do that first. Next step would be to try some other speakers. You never know if they are the source of your problem. It's not impossible.

After that, you should go to your Start menu, and choose "Run". Type "dxdiag" without the quotes, and then click on the "sound" tab of the program you just opened. That will tell you if there are any problems with your DirectX sound drivers.

I'm pretty much just trying everything here, because there aren't a whole lot of clues to go on.

Sorry I'm Amish.
Don't apologise to me... I don't mind explaining a few things, but aren't you worried about being shunned? :naughty:

Hmmm... Do you have the virus scanner? That's possibly why your audio have a problem because of virus. Or go to Control Panel and click Sound Effect Manager.

Lol. I don't mind to help you if you have a problem with the computer, dawg.

(It doesn't scan or clean your system, nor does it run in the background, it prevents junk from being installed in the first place.)

Soluzar, I honestly believe that God put people like you on this planet to help people like me with technology. Your an hero. And I'm doing a virus scan right now. Downloading the spyware adware **** too. Check this (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/You_Must_Read_This_Before_Posting_A_Hija ckthis_Log-t2852.html) site to properly configure Ad-Aware. (Scroll down.)

I had a similar problem not to long ago (lots of static when I played music) and I discovered it was one of two things: 1) (assuming you're using an off-board card) my soundcard not being properly fastened in the motherboard, and 2) the wires that were connected to my speakers were old.

Anyway, if that doesn't solve your problem, just as Soluzar said, the problem could indeed be the speakers. Try connecting a set of headphones to the soundcard slot to see if the problem persists (if you haven't already).

That's one I've not got any experience with... I'm not sure how much I would trust it, really. Those other two programs have a reputation. Maybe if I wanted something to perform the same function, I'd go with WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/). If only because that's a name I know.

EvilKoala: Once you've tried every step I recommend, checking Device Manager for driver problems is the next logical step, as Bernard has stated. Once you've done that, you've exhausted most of the logical causes for this kind of a problem.

open up your task manager (the thing that pops up when you press ctr+alt+del)
and clickon the processes tab. Then tell me what is taking up the most memory (mem usage) and what process it is (aka image name).

I really hate spyware. A lot of users (case in point here) don't even know they have it, until it causes a serious problem. I'm really glad you got it fixed. :D

Maybe if I wanted something to perform the same function, I'd go with WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/). If only because that's a name I know. The thing with WinPatrol is that runs in the background (along with having to pay for it), SpywareBlaster doesn't. I've used it for years and its been perfect for me. As for whether it's trustworthy or not, Javacool is well known, its gotten great reviews, and has been a favorite at Download.com (http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10486084.html) and the Geekstogo site/forums (which I frequent and offer help from time to time).

Aye! Thank you Soluzar and other peoples. This laptop is less ****** now. :) I'm glad you've solved the problem, Koala. ^_^
