who is your favorite singer?
Be it a rock artist, R&B artist, or anything and anyone that sings.

That's really hard. I often don't have one artist I hold above all others, but some that I enjoy listening to more often. Some among my favorite artists are Nelly Furtado (older stuff), Everclear, Kook Keith, Clear Water Revival, and Mama's And the Papa's. I have way more than that. I don't feel like updating them now.

It's pretty hard to jsut choose one...
Sawao Yamanaka for the pillows would be number 1. But there are so many number two's.
Honorable mentions:
the singer from the Fray
the singer from Asian Kung-Fu Generation
James Hetfield-Metallica
Paul McCartney/John Lennon/George Harrison/Ringo Starr-the Beatles
Lord Dagoth

As of right now, it's Tony Kakko.

Mine is Davey Havok from AFI. I especially like the way he screams on black sails in the sunset. Decemberunderground was good, but it sounded diffrent, almost like American Idiot (same producer actually). On tour he still does alot of older songs.. like Total Immortal. His voice is unique, it can be aclled emo, but it's not like most emo bands... almost a Glen Danzig sound.
Yes, he's the wierd looking guy:

You've probably seen him around since Miss Murder is pretty popular.

No-one.
Fav band yeah, but not a sole singer. Because if I say the singer of my fav band, i'm gonna get some weird looks.
I suppose I like one guys voice better than anyone elses, despite hiom not bieng my fav artist or band. A one Jon Bon Jovi.
Prons, I had just done a nice quirky and witty joke about you (nothing offensive or anything) and some mod deleted the "listen to music whilst on net" poll.
Shame.

You know, I can't get into J-rock all that much. I enjoy a few of HYDE's songs, but as far as the genra goes, I only like DAI. Sad I know. Although Naruto has some good stuff...

Tori Amos for female and Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics for male. Both give me shivers down my spine when I hear them.:bow:

Hm. At the moment, I would say it's a tossup between the singers for FLOW (no idea wth their names are) and Till Lindemann, lead singer for Rammstein.

Yeah. Whenever a soundgarden or audioslave song plays, even if I haven't heard it, I know it is him. He's got a really POWERFUL voice.

I also like Leann Rimes. God, you want to talk about a powerful voice. That song Blue made me think she was a full-grown woman. Turns out, she wasn't even legal.

For English singers, I'd have to go with either Vanessa Carlton or Sarah Mclaughlin.
For Japanese, I'd say Sakamoto Maaya or Onitsuka Chihiro.

Hard to choose 1 favorite.
- Freddie Mercury
- Thom Yorke
- Charlotte Church
- Ricardo Arjona
On the other hand I have a love/hate feeiling with Eros Ramazzotti's voice. His voice is annoying, but addictive. His songs are great.

Mikael Akerfeldt, he is the lead singer for the Prog-Death Metal band Opeth, this guy has to be the best Death Metal Vocalist of all time plus he can pull of some haunting clean vocals as well.

r+b= barry white
blues= b.b. king
rock=robert plant/jim morrison
rap=none
emo=**** that
soul/pop=marvin gaye
funk/beat=anthony keidis of rhcp
disco= All the beegees, the Gibb brothers
Jazz=Fats Domino, yes I said jazz
Freddy Mercury is hands down the best singer, no questions, and you cant persuade me otherwise.Every time I here Killer Queen, I get chills. Yet the song that has done it, will do it, and right now keeps doing it is Somebody To Love, his voice brings me to tears in that song, not to mention Brian Mays great solos, licks, and progressions. Yet sorry the chili peppers are my favorite band still. Of course there are alot of other singers I like, but this should suffice.

You'd be suprised to hear how many singers sound like Gerard Way... on the High School music scene.
But ya, Robert Smith (Cure vocalist) is pretty good, have you heard the song "just like heaven"? one of my fav. cure songs next to "watching me fall" and "the loudest sound".
AFI did a cover of "just like heaven" I wish I could let you listen because it is absolutely amazing.

November 29th, 2006, 04:35 PM
Geoff Tate
Tarja Turunen
there's so many that I couldn't name them all...but these two have great voices...

My favorite Rock Singer from the nineties would have to be Jay Gordon of the 'Death Pop' Band Orgy.
Robert Smith would have to be my favorite eighties singer.
I really can't decide on an all time favorite singer.
Ihsahn the former lead singer of Emperor would have to be my favorite Black Metal singer.

Yeah Muse rock.
OMFG Stan Bush, LMFAO XD
The only song of his I know is from the old Transformers movie ("Touch") and it's pretty damned bad.
Which is why it's my joke X-MAS pressie to my DJ bro. Because we grew up with Trans and always said it had an awesome soundtrack and the best of the 80's (joking of course) so i've got him it for X-MAS.
Personally I think most 80's music, er, sucks!
He loves aload of 80's stuff though, no idea why.
Anyway, Muse rock, best current British rock band by far.

Of all time, well you can't beat Freddie Mercury but i'd go earlier then that and say Paul McCartney. Freddie had a high a very Vibrato voice but Paul was very melodic and very smooth with his songs, also many of his songs his voice sounds different, one of high pitched, to a deep low pitched voice. Making most of his solos very different.
Still Kudos to both singers :thumbsup:
