The Heisei series are my favorite. Which movie from the Heisei series is your favorite?
My favorite is Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. With ethier Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II or Godzilla vs. Destroyer in second.

Heisei is indeed the best. It OWNs Showa and Millennium in sheer character of the films. Though, my favorite was Godzilla Vs Biolante. With Space Godzilla at a close second.
Even though I had to import the stupid thing. :(

In a few scenes Godzilla vs Biolante has English speaking actors who could actually act.....in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah they sounded so horrid. Its like they thought the Japanese couldn't tell how fake they sounded.

"Tell your son about this Mr spielberg."
That line wins. Though, I do love how Ramond Burr(sp) was in 1984. That was sure neat aswell.

I don't watch Godzilla movies dubbed since they ruin some, like with Godzilla 1984-_-;
The last dubbed Godzilla film I watched was Godzilla 2000 back in 2000. I still need to see that in Japanese, I hope they re-release it subbed.

it was a tough one, but Biolante wins for me. though I liked all of them on a certain level and for certain reasons.
Shouldn't Godzilla technically be a Showa era film, since Hirohito was still alive when it was released?

Godzilla vs. Gihodra was so kickass.
Excuse me, "King" Gihodra. I have an action figure of him around here somewhere...

I'm surprised that many people are voting for Space Godzilla. I always thought that was one of the most hated films in the series... Anyway it was pretty tough, but Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla would have to be it for me. I hadn't seen the Heisei films for years, but in Australia they're getting subbed/dubbed DVD releases at the moment, and I'd forgotten how good they were. Biollante is so different from all other Godzilla films, and Mothra was surprisingly good. The only really average one was Return Of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985), which seemed more like a disaster movie with Godzilla. The action scenes were lethargic. Never seen the dubbed Burr version, so I have no idea what that's like.
The rip-offs in the films are good though, Terminator in King Ghidorah and Indiana Jones in Mothra. The "Godzilla Memorial Lounge" in Biollante was quite funny too.
However I disagree about the English acting in Biollante. It's horrible. With lines like "Kiss you guys" and "****, damn we are the lethal weapon!", you can't honestly say that's great.

I've been a Godzilla enthusiast since age four, and I can safely say that Final Wars is the best heisei movie. Godzilla was stomping *** left and right, the fruity villain dies, and it marked the debut of "Samurai Hussein".

The Heisei period spans from 1989 to the present year. 2006 is Heisei 18.
"Godzilla heisei" ended in 1998. Fact. Every installment of any movie produced by Toho after that has been "Mellenium series."

This is incorrect on both accounts. The Heisei Era of Godzilla films spanned from 1984 to 1995. That's the second generation of the series. The Japanese timespan known as Heisei spans from 1989 to today.

I edited it before you posted. :\
Toho films Heisei ended in '98. And I have no idea why you think I care about Japanese timespan, we're talking about a movie company. I'm right, no sense in arguing over it.

Wrong Reidar, the current series is the Seishun Godzilla. Godzilla VS DEstroyer was the last of the Heisei series, hence the "Hey this is the end" ending, then in 2000 the new series kicked in with Godzilla 2000.

The movie company is Japanese. It's hardly grounds for a misconception to be odd about a company within the culture being referenced to a Japanese concept.

The arguments of pre teens are cute.
I simply forgot to add "Toho" in it. If you knew anything about anything I would not even of had to explain to you in the first place.

You were incorrect. If it spans from 1984 to 1995, then it ends in the latter-listed date, which is 1995. The purpose of a timespan allotment is to chart the beginning and the end.

The format of a disagreement has nothing to do with the integrity of it. Text has no lesser merit than vocal points.

The end of the Godzilla Heisei ends in 1995. There are Heisei Gamera and Mothra movies that are in the late 90's. Again, the Toho Heisei ends in 1998.

We were speaking of the Godzilla Hensei. The topic title reads "Favorite Godzilla Heisei series film".
And what's with all the snide remarks, like "I win", "you can accept your defeat", "learn to read", etc.? I would expect someone of your age be capable of disputing something in an intelligent, mature manner, without need for ad hominem retorts.

Anyways, abiding by this specific period, I gave the wrong movie. Out of that list, it would be Mechagodzilla II.

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about the Japanese track where durring a few scenes characters talk in English. Some of the dialog might be silly with all the swear words but atleast they seemed real. In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah when it showed the soldiers on that island and attacking Godzilla they sounded like robots. Biollante was taken more serious as a Godzilla movie and after that they went back to being a little more silly.

Now, while I remember Godzilla 1985 fondly from childhood (and not being much of a Godzilla fan in adulthood) - and not reading the thread - why the hell is it included with the Heisei Series? Heisei didn't start until 1989...

I'm not sure why & I don't really care-_-;
They were a new series of Godzilla films. It could just be because most of those Godzilla films in that era were from the Heisei era(besides one). No big deal that Godzilla 1985 is in the Heisei series because its part of those movies that came after into the Heisei era.

I've never heard anyone go around saying "Kiss you guys" or "Damn, we are the lethal weapon!", but maybe I'm not hanging around the right places. Some of the accents, especially the dialogue between the Saradian company owner and Dr Shiragami, was sooo thick I would have really liked to have English subtitles to understand what in hell they were saying in English.
Haven't seen King Ghidorah in a while, but I can't recall any of the American soliders being particlarly bad. The performances of the English speaking cast for the reast of the series were quite OK, and certainly a lot better than the pure ham of recent Godzilla films.

I have never seen a Godzilla film with a less-than-ridiculous dub job. Not that the premise of Godzilla itself precedes that to begin with, mind you. It's not a bad thing; if I'm going to have radioactive dinosaurs Van Damme'ing the hell out of each other, it'd better be all out, with nothing being held back.

Fair enough; thanks for the info. I guess it's because of the gap and because of the 'type' of monster that Godzilla became. With the last of the 'Shouwa' films being in 1976 (Shouwa 51) and this film not coming out until 1984 (Shouwa 59) with the follwing film not coming out until 1989, it kinda stands alone, but if it shares more qualities with the subsequent 'Heisei' films, I guess I don't have a problem with it being included in the group. I just found it odd initally that a 1984 film was included in the Heisei era predating it by five years and not really looking into it.
