I need an HD. And my Wal Mart is doing a sale for this TV for under 500$.
I just have no idea what this "Projection" means. But, yea. I want this TV for Gaming. But I don't know if it's 720p or 1080i...

I remember that old school projection tv's were really bad for gaming since if you leave it paused for any length of time the image ends up getting burned into the screen. I don't know if new projections still face that same flaw, but I knew a few people "back in the day" whose projection big screens got ruined when their kids left a game paused on it for too long.

Refund FTW!!!
Other then that, do you think it would make games look better? Or are projection TVs hard to see at all?

Well the projection tv's I have experiance with are pretty old, but they always looked kinda dull to me (speaking of the color of the picture), and they didn't have much of a viewing angle (so sitting off to the side to far makes the picture dark and pretty difficult to see whats going on). As for looking better, I would imagine steping up from a standard tv to any HDtv will make basically everything look better, since you have a lot more pixels to work with. I know that sounds like a lot of negatives (and it kinda is), but I would be pretty careful in picking up a projection tv for gaming, unless you want to shut off the screen everytime you pause the game for more then a few minutes. But hell I could be wrong, all the problems they usd to have could all be gone, so don't take my word for it, I'm just going by the knowledge I have about projection tv's that friends of mine had.

Also, Projection TVs have gotten a lot better. I recently bought a 27 inch LCD WS HD tv for about 600. It is nice for games and such.

Why not? I have bought plenty of higher-end products from Wal-Mart and never had any trouble with anything.

Yeah, I agree with Sazae. Sure Wal Mart isn't the best TV store around, but the TVs they do carry are usually decent quality with good deals attached to them.
Oh yeah, when I clicked on the link it said "product not found."

I don't know about in the USA, but here in the UK you will find that Wal-Mart are an OK place to buy electronics from... they give a longer warranty than most places, for free. They will also refund or exchange a 'faulty' item without asking questions.
Are they the same in America? If so, great place to buy a TV from...

Nothing wrong with buyin HDTV's from Walmart.
I treat their TVs like Best Buy's and CC's, get the brand/model number and do as much research on the product as possible.
http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/index.php is probably the best place to find info on HD anything. Its where I found all the background info on the tv I bought.

I think there's some confusion going on.. A "projection" TV simply means that inside the TV is a small "screen" on which the image is formed before being enlarged by a projector and projected onto the large screen. That small screen can either be plasma or LCD-based. If it's plasma-based, then, like all plasma screens, it can burn in. But if it's LCD-based, there isn't a problem.
Projection based TVs are considered to have somewhat lower quality than regular LCDs or Plasmas, and the older ones had a limited viewing angle. However, the viewing angle is supposedly much better on newer models, and I think that, unless you're a videophile or obsessive compulsive, the difference in video quality isn't too noticeable.
I do, however, recommend getting an LCD Projection TV, not a Plasma Projection TV.
(BTW, that link seems to no longer work)

If you can afford it (and if you can find it in the U.S somewhere), I say this one is what you need.

We have it, and it's the one that MS use, as it was officially made for use with the 360 with MS' help.
It's a fantastic T.V.

Projection TVs are a bit thicker than regular Plasma or LCD TVs.
