I was watching episodes 54-59 and at one point I think they called Kiyone a "prettyboy." Is this some kind of translation error, or is Kiyone really a dude?

hmm....i think it must just be a translation error...i have always thought Kiyone was Female.
Kiyone was part fo that pair of sidekicks, right?

As far as I know, Kiyone is a girl. I thought it was a "bishi" at first too, but most likely an error. Kiyone is a girl.

I really had a hard time telling if Kiyone was a male or female. For a while I thought male but then I believe I saw a tiny bit of chest.

well Kiyone is part of soul societys womens organization...so i assume Kiyone is a woman.

Yeah, that actually cemented it for me too. When I saw the Shinigami Cup Golden she was in, that told me she was a girl.

Don't worry, kiyomi, unless they seem to have Jusenkyo springs in Soul Society, then she's a girl.

And for the record, I've been mistaken for a girl plenty of times (But ORANGE-KUN SO sounds like a girl's name! >_<)

i always new that she was a girl. she sounds too much like one, and she just looks too much like one. then again at first glance i though that Captain Tousen was a girl cause of his first name and the way he looks, but kiyone is definitely one.

but the biggest shock for me in the series was Yoruichi being a chick. NOBODY saw that comming.

Is there actual revealing nudity? Swimsuit picks are absolutely fine by AN rules. If not, then at least half the people in the Naruto board (myself included) are due for a banning.
