So just finished watching the oilers vs. the stars (hockey) and the oilers lost due to a bad ref. call. so I was sondering if anyone has had this happen to them?

The oilers should have gone to the superbowl instead of the steelers excepting a brain dead referee saying that an obvious touchdown was not. This is well before instant replay in 1979. Sorry but Renfro's feet were in.

whats the point in this? refs make 'bad calls' all the time.
DOn't like it? become a ref and change things.

The Hand of God was a bad call or rather was bad for a lack of a call.

There are bad calls all the time in Soccer, to be honest. It's either a sport which is inherently harder to officiate than most, or it is a sport cursed with truly appalling referees.

They should get referees that are from the US, exclusively, so that they're unquestionably objective.

Super Bowl 40. I don't care what anyone says, I still think the Seahwaks won that one!

NO GOAL!!!!!
(surprisingly, ths Stars were ont he right end of that one too)
other than that, there was a shot that went through the side of the net (LeClair's in the 2000 playoffs if I'm not mistaken) and the time last year in Calgaery where the play was reviewed and the guy didn't look at it. NHL called Regier to apologize before the next period was over. I'm a Sabres fan, I can go on for quite some time if you want. How about when Tucker went after Hecht? Intentionally injured him, Hecht gets the box for retaliating.

Well, it's not like being a ref in Soccer is easy. You have to run the equivalent of a 10K in EVERY game. Imagine jogging a 10 K while you're watching the players play clean? Easier said than done.
And yes, there's too many bad ref calls in soccer. It's hard to find a game with an excellent and impartial ref.
Figure Skating can have it's bad sports calls. Michelle Kwan did not deserve to win the 2002 US Nats. Sasha so outbeat her. Too bad the CoP system wasn't installed yet to make the judging impartial. There's a reason why Kwan isn't around these days competing, she's too scared of CoP to compete in it.

Its definitely a combination of both factors. Especially when things get at the international level, tensions are high and dammit sometimes you just hate one of the teams... The club level i guess is difficult in the sense that you dont want the fans to kill you...

Yeah...Zidane totally didn't headbutt that guy...he just walked into his head...
During soccer season i know a few guys that carried around red and yellow cards, hilarity ensued.

You'd think by now, Oiler fans would be used to bad calls. ;)
There are a lot of bad calls in sports. Yeah. Refs don't have the power to slow time down to recheck every play. Unfortunately that call was unreviewable.
So yeah. Flames won Stanley in '04. JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS.
