As I stated in an earlier thread, there are many probable reasons for the title:
-The idea of shinigami "bleaching" Hollows into normal spirits
-Ichigo's hair color
-It was named for a Nirvana album

I believe it was for Ichigo's hair color which appears bleached but Im not sure.

well he didnt bleach his hair, i think he was born that way and refused to dye it.
i guess the reason for the title being bleach would be more obvious in japan since people that are pure japanese would most likely have black if not dark hair so a carrot top would stand out like the flying speghtii monsters rebirth

Are you exploiting the Creator? You are so sued! :P
The title is most likely a reference to Ichigo's hair but I dunno. Nirvana is such a good band. I wouldn't be surprised if Tite Kubo makes two other series with the titles Nevermind and In Utero. But seriously, Alice in Chains is so much better. Bleach should have been named Sap.
My point is: Bleach's name obviously came from Ichigo's hair color >.>

Why do we need Chlorine Bleach? To kill germs, and keep the toilet fresh and safe. Why do we need Shinigami? To kill the Hollows, and keep the world fresh and safe. Yeah, it sounds kinda stupid, but I think that is at least one of the meanings.

Ichigo doesn't bleach his hair and Tite Kubo is also a big music fan.

I've heard that Tite Kubo said he named the series after the Nirvana album, but I've yet to see that interview. Even if he did say that, that doesn't mean it doesn't have some basis in the story as well.
I subscribe to the "Bleaching hollows" theory.

It's called Bleach because it's called Bleach ... does it matter?

Usually, titles have something to do with the movie/book/song/whatever it is for, usually something important. Bleach is a somewhat odd title with no obvious explanation in the story. People want to know that the relevance of the title is to the story, and there is nothing wrong with that.

not really but most of the time the reason for the title is either obvious or explained later in the series (i guess this could still be possible once the filler arc ends). but in something like full metal alchemist it gets that title because of his arm. in naruto its his name. outlaw star, his a space outlaw, trinity blood because of the holy trinity and vampires. my point is if they named eureka seven clorox or apple juice you may be a little confused as to why and want to know.

So you suggest that an anime which has little or no explanation for its title got said title from a band which makes titles that have absolutely nothing to do with the songs they belong to? Almost makes sense.
For the record, I despise Nirvana. Actually, I despise grunge in general. It should have been called Megadeath, since you have all these Death Gods going around and purifying dead spirits, so you have a mega load of death, thus Megadeath.
All hail the power of METAL!!!!

I think that it's because of Ichigo's hair color, even though it's natural.
He stands out because of the orange and won't dye it black to fit in, because he doesn't care what others think.

Though the Ichigo hair color theory makes the most logical sense... i find it dumb to base the entire series on that

When you read this "I think that it's because of Ichigo's hair color, even though it's natural. He stands out because of the orange and won't dye it black to fit in, because he doesn't care what others think" it doesn't seem that way. In the show he does always says (i've oinly seen up to episode 68 so it might change) that he doesn't care what others think when he goes off and does some wild crazy thing to save/protect someone or when everyone else is running away.
Actually, thats kinda a major thing in the show is that he doesn't run away or back down even when it makes sense to and every around him is telling him to.

The hair color thing is ... umm... sorry to say... Stupid.
There is much more to the storyline of Bleach than a character's hair color, although it may be the main character.
I agree with the cleansing idea... "Bleaching" the world of evil... Yeah.... ^_^

AMEN BROTHER, AMEN! and for the record, dave mustaine is a hell of a lot better than kirk hammet. HE shouldve stayed with metallica. but then we wouldnt have had all of those good songs. oh yea, long live cliff burton! RIP
.....ANYWAY, there are a lot of titles out there that have obscure titles, like Di Gi Charat or FLCL. BLEACH is just a title
