Off-topic Discussion... This always seems to be full of things that are, well, off-topic. And there is such a wide-range of things I think it would help if we had some... Sub-forums. Suggestions: Music, Movies, Sports, Technology. This would help spread things out. If someone wants to talk about, let's say, the NFL. The thread will probably just be swallowed by all the other music, movies, technology threads etc. If you want to talk a bit about sports it would be nice to go to a sub-forum directed toward that. Got problems with your iPod? Wouldnt you like to post your questions about that in a technology forum where people go there for that purpose? I'm sure you would. I just think it would help with having all those threads about every topic smudged in the same compact space.

Don't hold your breath

EDIT: to elaborate: I suggested this a while ago, and the mods made it clear these subforums weren't going to return. Which is understandable, because all it really does is create a bunch of low-traffic areas.

People bring up lots of subforum ideas all the time, and the answer has been fairly consistent: new subforums are added as they are needed.

In practical terms, this means that until the off-topic forum is inundated with sport threads (or music threads, movie threads, tech threads, etc.), a subforum won't be created because it's not needed. Same goes for series ni the series-specific subforum, etc.

At the moment, I don't really see any one topic that's flooding the off-topic forum. I certainly hadn't noticed that it's gotten really sports-centric.

Tak a look over at EliteHunting, and you'll see that they've got tons of subfora - and 80% of them aren't used. They're just administrative clutter.
