my old dvd system died earlier this year (speaker connections probably blew out in the unit, the speakers are all still good) so i got a new receiver and re-used the same speakers. i've recently renovated my room and realized that my subwoofer wasn't plugged in after all this time ^_^ . the problem is that the receiver only takes subwoofers with jack inputs and my sub only has the normal red/black wires. is there an adaptor of some sorts out there to make this work? what's it called? do common electronic stores like Radioshack and Circuit City carry them? the receiver's manual mentions something about an "RCA plug", is this it? i hope someone has some knowledge or can refer someplace good. thanks in advance!

oh and in case there's any confusion, the receiver is not returnable anymore (earlier this year remember) nor do i want to get rid of it. don't want to buy another separate sub either.

You may have to splice your own jack using a soldering iron, since the sub uses wire contacts. It's easy to do and RS has jacks and wire to do this sort of thing

thanks a lot. is there anything specific i should ask for to make things easier, like a certain jack or wire type?

I'm guessing the sub has 10 gauge wire so look for a small spool to cut extra wire from to make a secure connection. Use low temp solder so you won't screw the jack up. Get a gold plated RCA jack for corrosion prevention, as they generally last longer than standard jacks.
