So I have this HD TV, and it came with one of those things that connect to your PC so you can watch your PC on your TV, instead of your monitor.

My question is, can I take advantage of this and use FRAPS or something and record stuff on my TV to my computer?

Probably not. However, if you have a DVD recorder, it's easy enough to rip and encode the footage from a recordable DVD, once you record whatever you need on the PC. What you have is a port that can display video from PC--->TV. That's not the same as TV---> PC. There are some PCI add-on cards that can do that, but the cheap ones suck, and the good ones aren't cheap.

You need TV in to do that. You'd need to be watching TV on your computer, as in regardless of what you're using as a monitor.

You need either an external or internal video capture card to what you're asking. Dazzle, Hauppage and ATI make hardware for such tasks.
