I'm sure there are a couple peopl here who are in to Motor Sports. So we need a thread.
I guess for starters, Post what series you keep up with (or try to atleast...), and your favorite driver from that series.
F1 - Micheal Schumacher (current fav) Ayrton Senna (favorite of all time, R.I.P.)
WRC - Marcus Grondholm (current) Tommi Makinnen (all time) Ari Vatinen (also a bad ***)
DTM - Jean Alesi (such a badass) Mika Hakinen (didn't care for him in F1, but I will give him props for the sick pass he put on Schumi at Spa)
V8 Super Cars - (looking for a new current fav, 06 season hasn't been aired yet in the states) Marcus Ambrose (should have never wen't to Nascar, but I will still root for him)
When I get a chance to watch ALMS I root for Alan McNish. I also like Ron Fellows.
As far NASCAR is concerned, I do watch it, I dont really have a favorite driver, but I will say Tony Stewert is the best out there.

I don't follow really close on names and the like, but I enjoy watching Le Mans and Moto X.

You need to watch Moto GP. The Doctor will show you how to REALLY ride a bike. Don't get me wrong Matt Maladin, and Ben Speis are good riders, but the Moto GP guys have that little bit extra.
At Catalunya Rossi had the bike sliding through all 4 apexes of New Holand. You cant get any more awesome than that.

Schmacher blew up at Suzuka. Alonso will win at Interlagos. I wish Jaques Villeneuve was still in F1. Scott Speed won't last in F1.

That ruined my day. I'm still pissed. I was throwing stuff around my living room, and screaming..........
If Ferrari doesn't win I get mad, then depressed. Last year was pure torture.
Villeneuve is driving for Jack Roush in NASCAR next year. Juan Montoya will be as well for Chip Ganassi. Those two go back, I forsee a scuffle in pitlane after Bristol next year.

I'm pissed at Champ Car and IRL not negotiating for an agreement this year.
Schumacher is a liar and very underhanded. A good technical driver but he has no personality, he's no Senna, but a good driver.
Villeneuve can't transition very well since he hasn't been driving since leaving Williams, whereas JPM went to practice two days after leaving, and it helps that JPM is a former CART champion and knows his way around ovals.

I know how you felt, though I didn't get to throwing things(been a long time Ferrari fan). I'm gonna miss seeing Schumi work his magic, I doubt ANYONE will able to top what he's done(not even Alonso looks to me like that kind of driver, much like the old legends of NASCAR, those kinds of guys just don't exist anymore). But I do hope that we'll get to see both Vettel & Kubica have good rides next season(they look like the most promising young drivers I've seen in awhile)....

He is no Senna, no one will ever fill Senna's shoes. Senna's death is a PERMANENT scar on F1. Schumacher's problem, as for as personality, is concerned, is that he never shows his TRUE side. It's always about, the car, the race, or the team. I dont think he has ever gone on TV and said "screw you, I lost because (insert ******* driver, or team) screwed me over. On the same note, he never takes full credit for anything that he has done. Thats how he has won the full respect of his team, thats what makes him a great champion.
Champ Car has shot it's self in the foot, and so has IRL. They are North American racing series, with hardly any North American drivers. They atleast need to run the 500 together.

Yeah.....During the Hungary race, I went from ALMOST turning the TV off, to jumping up and down like a crazy person, and pumping my fists, to returning to the state, where I DID turn the TV off. Victory is the only thing that matters. Finishing second just wont do.
Yeah, now that Micheal will be gone, I'm assuming more driver's will get TV exposure. Kubica is pretty nuts. The way he held on to his car in the rain on slicks is China, and then saving it this weekend from the wall in the dirt.

I watch it when I can. I liked the race at Mosport. I wanted to see the road atlanta race, but I didnt have like 8 hours to sit there. I usually root for McNish because he is badass in DTM. He is awesome. He does like 4 different series.
I usually root for Ron Fellows in GT1 i think it is. Awesome racer as well.

Awesome. I'm trying to get tickets to the Grand Prix of St. Pete. (IRL)
Did you get to meet Alan McNish?
How are they with fan friendly stuff. KART used to be like that, where you could walk the pits on friday, and meet the drivers and such. My dad got to talk o Mario Andretti. He gave Million Dollar Bill Elliot a ride in an F-15. And a couple other race drivers.
I wish IRL would get thier act together with Champ Car. It's killing american open wheel.

I've known Allan for awhile since I used to test racecars when I was younger. We caught up and we talked at length about his progress with Audi, his stint in F1, and we joked around for a bit with Dindo.
ALMS=For the fans. full access to cars, drivers and officals so you can sound off on what can be improved for the series.
