Is it just me or, are bandai so up their own arses with their fancy new graphics and consoles for Gundam games, that they don't seem to realise that just about every Gundam game to come out in the US is based on the OYW!! I wouldn't mind if they included some of the side stories or manga stories, but they don't.
I was hoping for some new storylines for the new games on the PS3 and XBOX 360, but surprise surprise, it's the damn OYW again!! I know not all the the games are just about the OYW, like Gundam vs Zeta Gundam or Encounters In Space (albeit very low amount of non-0079 content in EIS), but I'd love to see some more non-UC games like Gundam Wing, or G Gundam, or at least some different UC stories, like Char's Counterattack or F91.
The only non-UC game I've seen so far was Gundam SEED; NET, and that was awful, I mean c'mon how could they put so little effort in to the gameplay, it's not like they spent ages on anything else like the soundtrack cos they just ripped that off from EIS.

All the SD Gundam games, G Generation, all the Gundam battle assault games, Federation VS Zaft, (not officially a gundam game but a side story of sorts and a pretty cool game IMO) MS Saga, MS Gundam SEED Never Ending Tomorrow, Gundam VS Zeta, Encounters in Space, Gundam Wing Endless Duel, Gundam: The Battle Master, MS Z-Gundam....Ok well those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head right now but as you can see there are a few games out that dont go running with the OYW but you just have to know how to find them.

It wouldn't make sense to make a new Gundam Wing or G Gundam game. Those anime are forgotten. The OYW story will never be forgotten however.

While I wouldn't mind a Gundam Wing or X game in the least, I'm quite fine with OYW and would rather see more OYW games than post-OYW UC games.
I think that the Universal Century circa OYW was a quite interesting and vividly painted world.

Having said what I originally said, I'll make a slight revision to my earlier comments. Personally I don't mind all the OYW games, I'm just sick of the same selection of suits. What I'd really like to see are more variations on the standard suits or more variety, like the Gouf Custom, Efreet, Hygogg, Xamel, etc, and stuff like the Apsalus.
I know some of those are in JP games, but I'd love to see them in some US games too.

Well, thats because there's not a high demand for this stuff in America. 3/4's of the Gundam crowd is down with that Seed nonsense. None of them really know about the UC stuff. They have no knowledge of the other million mobile suits that were involved in the One Year War.
Plus, Bandai knows the games never turn a profit in America. So they figured "screw the Americans".

Can't you just kill them? You have the guns.

Bandai knows that no matter how horrible or generic the OYW Gundam games are, there'll always be Gundam Otaku to buy them simply because it's Gundam... The "VS" series is a bit better (especially the SEED one, so I hear) but most games are exploitative dreck.

I think a larger problem is the variety of gameplay rather than variety of setting.
We've only had one Gundam RPG, MS Saga, and it lost a fair bit of customers due to its disassociation from the Gundam universe, although I suppose that fans of Turn-A might have dug it. Then again, the people who enjoy the slow pace and relative lack of eye-candy in Turn-A might not be the sort to play games much.

I'd like to see another first person Gunadm game like Side Story for the Dreamcast. Will the new Gundam games be first person?

Well, Mobile Ops will be. It wouldn't be much of a Battlefield clone otherwise..

So you figured that guide out? How are you finding the game to be?

Yea. I finally figured it out two weeks ago.(After some billing problems.)
It's interesting. Though, I still have no idea how to build your own MS/MA. Or vehicles.
The gameplay is fun and I like the concept of adding character.(Ramba Ral attacked Sidney and killed everyone) And Johnny Ridden is said to be seen in Space. Also, Char Garma and Amuro were in the last 'Event'.
But yea. I had some of the bloats at Gamefaqs from Zeon that gave me free stuff. :)

yeah i wouldnt mind more OYW games if they added gouf custom and other mobile suits that were just prototypes. and some damage to be shown on the suits too. i think the PS3 Gundam World or whatever will have an actual damage on your mechs and you can choose to retreat or stay and fight. i would also like to be able to wield double beam sabers at the same time not just for some special attack where they use it and then put it away. and i would die to play a gundam game that starts from OYW till CCA. that would be SWEET!!!

Hey their they are going to be OYW games, but they aren't the rehash of the same gameplay we've been playing for a while. Mobile Ops seems to be a really innovative game with the Battlefield style warfare. And PS3's Crossfire looks awesome. I mean, how can you go wrong?

have any of you seen the trailers for Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire? the look really sweet. now instead of points (ex 550/600 health/armor) you have a picture of your mech and the color changes from green to red then after it reaches red and you get more damage then that part breaks. i want to pilot the Ez8 it looked bad @ss in the trailers.

That sounds great, like a much better version of the setup in GvsZG, where you could choose survival as an awakening mode and bits of yourt suit got blown off when your armor reached zero; the only bit about it that sucked was when the ZZ got it's head blown off, no more Hi Mega Cannon.

zaku just got its head cut off. not sure completely but if this happens then the unit will fall, but in G vs ZG if you had that recover bar i think you head could get blown off but still be able to fight and wasnt the gundam also without a head after the amuro/char fight.

i think if something like the arm that the weapon is attached to is destroyed then that part become useless. so if your on a Gouf and your rod arm or finger machine gun gets destroyed then thats it for that part.

Pretty much, but at least the original gouf had it's weapons spread out a bit (machine gun in one arm, heat rod in the other), unlike SEED-D's gouf ignited with all it's weapons built into the one arm, if that gets hacked off like Hiene's did against the Gaia, your stuffed.

Is Bandai US going to release either of Capcom's Gundam Seed Renpou vs ZAFT games in the US (either the original or the sequel due out in December in Japan)?

I was wondering (or rather hoping) about that too. But given the popularity of SEED in the US, I think they'd be stupid not to release them; it could just take a while seeing as a lot of content in those games is from SEED-D so they may come out after the Destiny DVD's are done being released.
