^Momo-Con is a much smaller, "College" Con; AWA is a (slightly more) "professional" Con.
Suki, you go to Tech? What are you majoring in?
If Suki's going, I might be convinced to go. Since I live in that quarter of the Metro Area not serviced by MARTA, what are your suggestions for commuters?

Nothing really. I take the MARTA sometimes but I live downtown. I'm majoring in Aerospace and Defense Engineering. Fuuuuuuuuun stuff. ^_^

^Best of luck to you on that degree. Tech's coursework would absolutely drive me insane. I'd never finish @.@
Is there secure campus parking? I've only been to the campus a couple of times and usually just passing through...

I guess they will reinforce the campus parking rules during the Con. But usually they're very anal anyways. My car broke down not too long ago, so I walk to campus everyday.
At Tech, just pace yourself and you'll be okay.

Probably not on the campus where there isn't tailgating... I'm sure Suki can point us in the direction of a good bar, though.

I think I can dedicate a few hours on Saturday the 17th but I can't go for the whole weekend. A friend of mine wants me to go to a gun show with him that weekend, too and there's always the ever present homework.

I'll be heading down there, too. I should probably take a camera, too. Don't know what my schedule will look like as far as me going down there, I have to run errands beforehand.

Going to Momo-Con was my first anime convention, and let me tell you, I will make it my last. I'm sorry, but the cosplay really turned me off. I was okay with children wearing costumes, but then I caught glimpses of adults doing it, my stomach turned. I first went to that little marketplace they had to check out some comic artworks, but didn't necessarily find anything interesting (or rather anything under my budget constraint). I later went into the retro gaming area and saw the games Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (DC) at play. I didn't see much competition. One player's only line of attack was to tag attack there opponent (She, apparently, was not familiar with Street Fighter). Also at play was King of Fighters (Xbox) and Super Mario Kart (SNES). After that, I left for the Underground for some competition. I guess anime conventions are not my thing.

it just that this was a small one. you should give AWA a try in the fall and then decide. it had more things to buy more games to play and the costumes were a lot better and since the space is bigger you can walk 2 feet without feeling your neighbors body heat and smelling their BO. but the old people doing cosplay is pretty much unavoidable no matter how disturbing it may be.

I wasn't impressed by the con. I planned to stay a couple of hours on Saturday but only ended up staying an hour and a half. I did a once through in the dealer's room, and had I not spent so much money earlier, I would have picked a couple things up.
Other than that, there where, what, two or three game rooms, artist's alley, and a costume contest? Where were the panels? Where were the viewing rooms? What the hell happened to anime cons being about, well, anime? MomoCon to me seemed much more like a cosplay fest in the vein of Akibiyori (actually, because Akibiyori includes food, it's already better) than an 'anime con'. In reviewing the guest and event list on Anime-Cons.com (http://www.animecons.com/events/info.shtml/1083), it looks like I could have missed a lot but as I went through the student center, I saw room after room empty or locked? Did I just miss it and my anger is misdirected, or, did they promise and not deliver most of it?
The only direct benefit I found was that I ran into an old classmate and played catch up with him and started planning an adventure to MTAC next month. Hopefully that will be a bit better experience.

they had viewing rooms you had to walk across to the instructional room to get to the viewing rroms where they showed anime and AMVs. im not sure about special guest.
i just got back from todays <_< they had to close down the entire con early cuz some super fags decided it would be cool to bring fireworks inside. but i wasnt a big deal cuz i was gonna leave in 10 minutes anyways. cant wait for AWA this fall though. gonna have to save up some money so im not broke again.
things i bought this time.
-Death Note notebook (all i really wanted)
-Naruto change purse
-Advent Children Cloud and Tifa key chains
-Kuchiki Byakuya cell phone charm
-and i think thats it besides food.

I wasn't that enthused with all of the guests they had, or at least, were listed on the AnimeCons site. The one guy who has published academic material on American fandom would have been interesting to listen to, and the armorers might have been interesting (even though I'm not a cosplayer nor do I wear chainmail) but what was up with practically the rest all being "webcomics authors"?
I missed video rooms? Were these instructional rooms in the student center or is that a separate building? I have the feeling that a lot of my problems could have been solved if instead of giving away copies of the Weeaboo Times they gave away a program of some sort.
