Remember Me from the Marshall Mathers LP. It has the sickest beat in the entire album.

Also, Eminems freestyle work + first two albums > anything current

Stan or My Name Is.
Stan was really good and had me crying a bit...

Quite a few. Evil Deeds rocks, 1st Single kicks ***, and there's a few others from his 3rd and 4th album that totally blast away any of his stuff from the 1st 2 albums.

Haven't listened to em in a while, so i'm forgetting the names of the ones I like.

Have to be in the right mood to listen to him.

I can only stand three Eminem songs (which is a nice compliment itself):

"Sing For The Moment"
"Stan"
"Lose Yourself"

I can't stand his 'happy' songs...

And I don't hate Em because he's white, I just don't like him because he gives himself WAYYYY to much credit. He's not even THAT good. Matter of fact, he's not good at ALL. Don't like a lot of his songs. Any song that comes close to listen worthy for me is some songs he's done with D12, and thats only because D12 made the song a little better. Other than that, don't like the dude.

PS: Yao is NO WHERE NEAR THE BEST. Sorry. My boy Allen Iverson. Now that the name has come up, you can discuss the greatest.

This is a pathetic thread.
The debate with Jay and what ever the other guys name is can only be based on opinion. Their isnt a standard for how Rap should sound other than what you create in your mind. And citing Jay Z's popularity isnt a way to prove anything. The idea that all rap is shite is wrong though. Now someone can think all rap is **** but they would have to listen to all the rap first. Going on the assumption that none of us here have heard all the rap made so far (Published Rap i dont think we can make that judgement. Personaly while playing Saints Row I heard several rap songs that didnt focus on *****es, tits, 40oz's, Glocks, and rolling on 22's and more so of the rappers thoughts on life. You're right, we really can't cite Jay-Z's skill based off popularity, but saying someone who doesn't DO rap is better at doing it than someone who has made millions off of it, I think that really that opinion is out of the question. It's a fact. I personally don't like Jay too much. He has cool songs, I'd have to give that to him. At least we agree on Dragonforce/Queen though :)

Recent rap isn't too bad either, at least underground (mostly). I like modern rap too. Nasty Nas was sicc, so is Wu-Tang, but hip hop didn't die when they stopped. Jedi Mind Tricks, Canibus, KRS-One, Last Emperor. So many to name.

You know, it seems the same people who like rap hate rock because they like rap. Not talking about here; most people here know what they're talking about.

I used to hate rap. Just because I went, shall we say "femo" (OMFG NEW WORD!) and started liking rock. I also hated classic because, well, it was classic and I'm a kid.

Then my dad helped me discover Fleetwood Mac. And Nirvana. And the Rolling Stones. And Led Zepplin. And pre-1997 Metallica.

THEN my older brother helped me discover some early rap.

Now my Ipod has 64 different genres.

Therefore, I doth hath discovered teh stereotypes most people have:

"Alternative is for hippies."
Not true. All kinds of people like Alt Rock. All-American Rejects is an example of Alt Rock, and it is a staple at junior high dances all over. EVERYONE LOVES IT.
"Anime Music is for basement dwellers."
Do I look like a basement dweller to you?
"Ballads are for old cowboys."
Evanescence put out a song called "Forgive Me" that was placed in the Ballad category. Last I checked, Amy Lee is not a cowboy.

I could go on, but I will later, as I have to beat my sister off the computer chair with a stick just to make this post.

Not that I don't constrain myself to genre's, but honestly, I only like a few. Ska, Jazz, old punk, and a few old rock bands like Supertramp and Zeppelin, that's it.

I just like anything with a good tune. Usually that's any genre of Rock and any Genre of Metal. Including Alternative.

I thought everyone knew that. But I think I made my point clear.
