anyone think episode 3 (dub) seemed a bit...off?

I loved episodes one and two but I saw the third episode of the dub last night and there's just something about it I didn't like. I can't put my finger on it. it just seemed...off. Anyone else get this vibe?

i just saw ep 1 and i was pissed. at the end kons voice was seriously f-ed up and i refuse to watch anymore. for the love of all that freaking holy....ITS SHINIGAMI DAMMIT, NOT SOUL REAPER!!!

There's a case to be made for saying that "Shinigami" is a name, rather than a word which should be translated, but Soul Reaper is an acceptable substitute, IMO.

You might find that subs leave Japanese terms untranslated, but it's not going to happen often in dubs. It confuses the viewer, unless they are already familiar with the anime, as you clearly are.

We aren't talking about manga, though. If you actually meant anime, then could you give an example? I haven't seen that word go untranslated in a dub. It's not as though I don't believe you, but I'd like to know the context it was used in.

Mixed for me. But for the most part the main cast sounds fine to me. A problem I have is some of the chessy lines that don't seem accurate to the sub track.

I look forward to hearing it on DVD because audio always sounds worse on TV, its not crystal clear & sounds like a mess.

Maybe because Orihime voice is off IMO.

i dont think theyll be right. english voices often dont catch the personallity of the player. watch it, Kenpachi will sound like a ****ing pro wrestler.

now Hanataro's voice...THAT will be interesting.

Shes sounds like a very nice airhead. Which is how she should sound.

When I first heard Viz was releasing Bleach I said I wasn't even gonna watch the dub, but that was only because I expected Ocean Group to dub it. Not this new company that uses some great VA's from other companies.

The dub company for Bleach is inexperienced. They havn't done much, so it might take a while for them to become much better. I hated FUNi & ADV dubs at first but over the years they have grown a lot.
