I'm just wondering, what are your thoughts on guys opening doors for gals?

Do you guys open doors for gals?
Do you gals do the same for guys?

I open the door for an elderly man/injured man, but not for young/able-bodied men. I guess I'm old-fashioned. It's been such a long time since a guy has opened the door for me, and when a guy does, I thank him and my whole day gets brighter. I don't know what it is but, yeah. (BTW, I'm not saying that all guys don't have respect anymore)

I always hold the door for whoever is behind me. It's funny when it's a revolving door because they usually suffocate and die, which I think is actually pretty rude of them to do.

I open the door for handi-cap people and old people. Also for girls all the time. Generally I find that guy reach out to grab the door to let you go in, so there is no point... Unless the door locks from the outside and you're coming from the inside. You'd kind of screw over the other person if you didn't wait just a little bit.

If I know someone is behind me, I'll keep the door open. If I'm in a hurry, I'll just slip by the opening left by the one in front of me and not care about anyone behind. If I'm about to enter a building or otherwise and get to the door first, but I'm on the opposite side of the entrance, I'll hold it open for any who are close enough, wait for any who can get in before me or have the time to do so and then I'll enter.

In those cases I leave people hanging in the middle of a conversation and run to open the door. Nah I'm just kidding. I open for everyone but I do it in a cool way.

Um, if the person is like walking directly behind me, I'll hold the door open. And, if like someone is like carrying bags or somethin', I'll open the door.

Although, I've noticed around here people are like bananas about holding these friggin' doors open for others to pass through. Dudes, more than chicks. I think it's really cute (funny), when you're like a gazillion exameters behind a person, and he/she'll wait 'til for you. See, I can't see myself doing something like that for strangers that aren't elderly/REALLY disabled. You'd have to be damn near close to me. :lol:

I think it's really sweet when a guy opens the door for a lady--it shows he can be a gentleman. It also shows he is kind and considerate, too.

Me, I hold doors open all the time for people. If they are behind me, or if they look like they could use some assistance...or....if they are carrying something heavy/bulky, I'm happy to hold open the door (or help them carry whatever it is) for them.

if they are entering near or with me, i will hold the door open. If they are a capable looking guy, i will psh the dorr open once i am through so it stays open.

My definition seems to be pretty close to the first entry given on Urban Dictionary, so I think I'm In the Right.
