Yeah, I believe it ran around 2002-2003.

Yeah, I think they started showing it after "Giant Robot Week"...or someting like that. It's actually one of the Gundams I really enjoy (Un-edited).

Ah, I remember their Giant Robot Week.

G Gundam, however, was showing long before then. I think it had finished at least one run by then. I recall that its current run finished just a little after GR Week, but that may have been the 2nd run..

Cool.

But do yourself a favour and get the individual Zeta DVDs or something instead of Wing.

About that..
I mentioned once sometime back that I had gotten a sci-fi-hater of a friend into Gundam by showing him a few episodes of Wing and then letting him borrow the MSG movie trilogy.
He absolutely loved the original trilogy and went on to watch Zeta afterwards.. which he pretty much thought was a total flop. I had told him that my opinion of the series as a quality work was pretty low but that I had thoroughly enjoyed actually watching it for the first time. He however, said that it was something of a pain to watch with an utterly nonsensical main character whose thoughts (or lack-of-thereof) he couldn't begin to understand, a ton of cliched "Pokemon" villains, and a lot of battle-of-the-day plots and forced romances that had no natural flow to them.
Basically, he felt that Wing had a great plot but an utter lack of characters, that MSG had great characters but an unremarkable plot, and that Zeta had neither. I'm actually a bit easier on Zeta than that, but I mean this anecdote as a warning against reccommending Zeta to all Gundam fans without discrimination, as it's far from the universally-loved thrill ride that some make it out to be.

I've had the same experience, actually. A few friends of mine watched the MSG trilogy after seeing Wing and got into the series, and stated reasons like seeing what inspired the Zechs character and all that. And as you can see from my sig, I like the original MSG way better than Zeta, considering the compilation movies got me into the franchise back in '98.

So I'll agree with you. Since the poster's username indicates that he's already seen Wing, though, I recommend something new, if he hasn't already been exposed to UC Gundam. Check out the trilogy first, and then Zeta.

I'm beginning to suspect that a good majority of Zeta's hardcore American fanbase are too young to drive..

Then again, most of Wing's American fanbase is probably too young to stay home alone..

I'm 19, but I don't drive. Although that's just because I hate cars and cars hate me.

It ran on weekdays for me... Wasn't the first run on the week days?

And what makes you say this? Most Zeta fans are more mature than that of Wing.

EDIT: In my 20's... :/

Most Zeta fans are more mature than that of Wing.
That's just what I said :P.

I realized that the comment about Zeta fans' age was likely to offend people, so I added a somewhat stronger jab at Wing fans (read: myself).
