Did anyone watch this tonight? It reminded me of the XMen meets Lost. I loved it!

Loved the cute Japanese office geek with the anime toys...:)

Heroes is too good already. I'm loving the premise. Although it seems that this show is gonna suffer from Big O-itis because it would seem that Hiro finds a comic book of himself in the next episode. So I'm hoping it doesn't turn out to be that way where they're just characters in someone's story.

Other than that, Hiro is ultra broken.

I went into the first episode, saying "I'm going to compare this to Lost. I will judge it completely from the first episode. If it sucks, I'm done."

Here's what I got out of the episode:

- On characters: Some of the extra rolls were horrible at acting. But thank goodness they are not main characters. The main characters actually interested me. They presented each of them as being only human and completely believable in character. They revealed the "heroes" individual "powers" and how they handled them at exactly the right moments, coveying the character's emotions and personalities perfectly. It was cool to see each character deal with their problems in very real and different ways. It is too early for me to remember names, but I actually sympathized with the cheerleader girl and her dog breeding mother. Plus, I believed in the frustrations that the Japanese man dealt with. Throwing in the Indian professor was a great way to foreshadow the fact that the "genesis" of the heroes will one day be revealed. They introduced a large number of main characters in their own separate lives, but yet connected each of them in some way or another. I see major revelations in the future.
- On writing: The premesis is awesome. I actually look forward to future development. And I'm a hard one to hook when it comes to TV writing. Plot, awesome. Pacing, double awesome. Execution, dead on.
- They include a bit of a gore factor. I feel that they were trying to stretch the limits for what they could show on network TV, and they carried it out in a shocking, although passive, way.
The first episode progressed without making the series overtly come across as "just another drama, only with action". Heroes already contains that "something different" that many other TV series do not. The show would definitely appeal to fans of comic books, manga and/or anime. They even had comic book references between two Japanese men in the first episode (which was probably to be expected, but still...) I am unsure as to whether or not this will become another Lost. But if it does become another Lost (and taking signs from the first episode, it very well might) that is a very good thing in my book.

I do believe that this is one series that I will, for the time being, continue watching.

I liked it a lot, but to be honest I don't think I liked the rest of the show as much as I liked the Japanese dudes.

Well, Heroes is like Lost in the sense that the characters are all connected to each other. ANd it's like Xmen in the fact that they all have powers.

I was surprised with the two brothers; was not expecting Nathan to have the ability to fly as well. And Peter is annoying all ready. But I totally loved Hiro and his friend making fun of him. :P And I'm intrigued by the Indian guy and how he'll play a role.

And Off Topic: I like the design and art of 'Cat Soup'

I thought it was really good but since it is still really early in the series, if I see anything along the lines of "Oh God, he's cheating on me", I'm changing the channel.

I do agree though, Hiro was freakin' awesome

subtitles had Hiro (if that's his name) yelling "yatai"
the person in charge of CC should be made to watch the yatta vid until he gets it right!

I heard the Japanese guy is a Jojo's Bizarre adventure fan. If such a reference really exists, then this is the greatest show ever.

Got around to watching this last week, have to download the episodes(dl 3 right now) cause of work but I must say this is a awesome show. Being a fan of Smallville I wasn't shocked at all that I got into this real quick. And yes, the Japanese guy rocks  Would love to have that power.

At first I didn't think it was going last cause you have to admit this is a very ambitious project and there are tons of realist out there. But apparently it got over the hump & NBC is extending it to a full season, mostly cause its one of if not the highest rated show of the new season right now. Nice to see more people expanding their imagination.

Now if only Friday Night Lights had a better time slot, I probably wouldn't have to worry about it being cancelled cause thats a kick @ss show as well. I haven't watch TV during the week in ages, this is the first time in a few years that I've actually been interested in whats on TV. Writers are finally starting to come up with more compelling shows, and if you can't be compelling be creative. Heroes is definitley both.

I've been wondering about this show, I should make an effort to see it now. I was too worried it was "Teen Titan-Emo-Live Action" show.

Like it as well. It looks like we're finally getting out of that Reality TV era.

Now if only more people would watch Veronica Mars.

You know, I tried to watch this show because it has an interesting premise and it airs before Dr. Who. I managed to get through the first couple of episodes, but I just can't get into it on broadcast television. It seems interesting, but the week between episodes and the commercials break up the pace too much for me to enjoy it. It reminds me of why I stopped watching TV in the first place, really.

Once it's completed and completely released on DVD, I'll probably give it a rental out of curiosity.

Its no different than anime really. As far as shows like Heroes, Lost, 24, etc...

^ Yep. I know. And if the only way I had to watch anime was on TV, I'd probably stop watching that as well.
