Okay, so assuming that Vista is released on time - you know that what Microsoft calls a 'Release' is just barely at Beta quality. So how long will it take before the first service pack is released and you can finally consider it a Release build? Do you want to wait that long to play BF2?

My problem.
I have a copy of XP with "Questionable" legality(Is that a word?) on it. I'm paranoid, so I thought of just buying the legal version. Though, friends, and guys I work with say I should just hold off untill Vista. "What are the chances you'll get cought?". They say. :\

^ I thought WinXP would time-bomb in X number of days if it couldn't connect to the internet and complete installation.
I mean, it's a nice idea in theory, but even if his copy of WinXP doesn't need to connect in order to fully install, odds are that BF2 still needs at least one of the updates in order to run. Yes, he could always download the local installers for those, but there comes a point after which it's more bother than it's worth. Either he should just install it and run the risk of getting caught, or he should buy a retail copy. Or he should find another game. Doesn't really matter which.
I never would've bought a game that required XP, but that's me.

I ran an illegal copy of Windows XP for years since I couldn't get my legal copy of Windows XP to run on it (irony, lol). Just don't get any of the updates or mess with anything that would connect your copy of Windows to Microsoft.

Meh. I just decided I will buy a copy tomorow. $99 dollars isn't that much.
Thanks guys. I guess I should've just thought about it before posting... Which is the problem solver for most.
PS: Win2K> XP. :)

^ WTF?! Yes, I have Macs. I also have PC's, and they're running a variety of Windows OS versions. Its not the PC I avoid. All but one of my games are PC games. I just won't touch WinXP, thankyouverymuch.

nLite is your best friend if you hate XP's bloat fest.
