Does 0 come before 1 or after 3?

Haven't been on NGE forums for ages, so no clue about the hype...

I just really glanced through it quickly, so didn't think about it that much...

Something about an illusion, and God/a god showed up...

And Rei got ripped out pretty bad...

Then apparently, everything Re-Take 1 ~ 0 took place during the (very brief) period of time when Asuka touched Shinji's face in the EoEoE.

But that girl who came from the LCL and saw Asuka and Shinji, who was she supposed to be??

...

First of all, what exactly happened?

1) There may have been a bit of resetto za warudo going on - what is reality and what is a final dream of Instrumentality is not terribly clear. But there's an excuse for lots of S/A, even if it is honest enough to admit that Asuka would have to be brain-damaged before she would marry Shinji (yep, he does marry a brain- (or soul-) damaged Asuka in one of the maybe worlds).

2) See the latter part of answer #1, I guess

I read Retake recently and thought it was pretty good. The sex scenes were fairly gratuitous, but it was still a compelling story. I wasn't quite sure what happened at the end either, but, then again, I wasn't sure what happened after watching the canonical Eva either.
