I think this has been in the works for a while or is a sequel or something - I remember seeing some "detective" style pics, might even still have them. I still am sick of Eva milked out the wazoo for just...ridiculously stupid ideas. The Angel XX series was probably the best new thing I'd seen from Gainax in recent times, I think.

The only good thing that GainaX made in amrket was the shito XX series...that was worth buying...even it it was clearly just the most pure high concentrated essence of fanservice turned in to statues.

Sure they smoke heavy stuff. They smoked quite a lot when they had to convince Anno for Rebuild. And I bet they'll smoke some seris bisnis when they have to write the new Eva, and you know what that means: pururin-pururu-pururinrinrurun -> fghshhhhhh -> a loli transformed into a princess. But she really is Shinji's childhood friend, later hired by Misato as maid. But in fact she's a robot girl from Alpha Centaury trying to save humanity. But what she doesn't know is that she's actually the reincarnation of a fox from the future.

LOL damn near every episode had like a 10 minute battle between one bad guy and up to three Evas. End of Eva had a battle between one Eva, like 10 tanks, 5 helicopters and like 9 other Evas and you're saying that action isn't a suitable genre for Evangelion? Maybe my box set came with some fake episodes ADV threw in or something, but the Eva I know is PERFECTLY suited for action.

Bah, transferring 2D characters into 3D almost NEVER works.

As someone who likes the Eva games more than the series, and as someone who really likes Japanese murder mystery games (like Eve Burst Error and Phoenix Wright), I thought... from the initial concept of this...

Oh Dear God This Is Horrible.

I jumped to conclusions and my mind put Shinji in the role of the detective. As he's played Ogata Megumi (http://www.emou.net/) and she seems to have all but retired from being a seiyuu, since playing Kyuu in Tantei Gakuen Q (Detective Academy Q), and the last major role I remember her being in was the main character in another detective game called Mystreet.

So... since she's been playing nothing but Shinji and various detectives for the last few years, I thought this game would pull the two together.

But from the trailer.... I can't tell who's doing the detective work in this game, and not only that... detective story videogames don't normally contain mutant tentacle girls in he trailer, I have to say. 'Cos normally when loads of killing is going on, you normally expect the mutant tentacle to be the perpetrator. So is she an obvious red herring? Are they revealing this much in the trailer? What the heck is this game actually all about?

The dead girl in that scene, how I thought it was Rei. But she turned up in the next scene. Perhaps this was wishful thinking on my part. Or maybe Rei got murdered and they just made a new one out of spare parts as normal? And throughout she does some detective work to find out who murdered herself? That would be quite cool... oldstyle sci-fi...
