The Million Dollar Prons

So I want a digital camera, but I ain't really gonna be usin it for too much, but enough to warrant having one around.
So I don't really wanna shovel out like, a hundred dollars or something, so I've been kind of looking for something "low-grade" like a 1 Megapixel thing. Any you guys have a 1 megapixel thing to show me what the quality is like?

Um...no--I actually have a crappy Aiptek camera that claims to be *checks it* 5 megapixels....but.....I seriously doubt it is that much. GAH, the pictures are so ugly that I....
*shovels through images* Hmm...I’ll find one later for you, or just go outside and randomly snap a new picture off ^_^.
I really think that if you are going to invest in a camera, you should try and find a nice one (okay, can't judge at the moment, since all I have left for digital cameras is the crappy Aiptek one... I used to have a really nice, high quality camera--but it died). They might be pricey, but it is worth the money in terms of quality and range. If you get a cheap camera, you probably will not be able to manually focus it (so what you want to focus on, like an object in the background, may not be what the camera decides is important), and you won’t be able to get in close to objects (and I'm not just saying right up next to the object either, more like...oh...anywhere from 1-2 feet will cause some cameras to freak out and make a really blurry, really ugly picture) without losing a TON of quality. In order to compensate you’d have to fork over another wad of cash for a tri-pod. A nice tri-pod, which can be WAY more expensive than the camera itself.
Some of the issues can be corrected with image-editing software, but the resulting file will either be TINY, have almost zero quality, or it will still be blurry no matter what you do with it. Prons, if you want a camera suitable to take nice pictures--for important things and whatnot, perhaps re-thinking the whole 'don't want to spend money' thing would be best for you.

The problem with those less than 1 megapixel cameras is they often have little or no lighting controls and or no flash. They end up making you NEED daylight and a perfectly still shot. Even then they come out lifeless and dull. Resulting in what Shiroiyuki is talkinga bout. What I would suggest is saving up a little extra money and get a low end 3 or 4 megapixel camera. Fuji has some nice models that start around 129, perhaps cheaper if you look around.
Also, don't get to hung up on megapixels. It really just means a larger image, not a better image. For most people wanting prints there is no need for a larger then 4 or 5 megapixel camera. 3 megapixel is more then suitable when the outcome desired is 3x5 prints.

Don't worry bout pixels. All ya need is the basics.
Flash, anti-blur, steady shot, long battery life...etc.
What is a megapixel anyway??
I gots a 7.2 megapixel camera. It's teh awesome.

Megapixel is the standard resolution size that a camera outputs.
I have a Sony 3.2 megapixel camera and have been using it for four or five years, which is nice but it doesn't have a decent zoom function, which is about the only thing I require besides the flash. I'll probably look into investing in another one in a year or two with higher resolution and better features.
I have a friend of mine who does digital photgraphy as a hobby (hence his excuse to bring his camera to all of our parties); it's a Canon Rebel (I forget the model); I think it's in the neighborhood of 10 Megapixel. Great camera and I love using it but I'll be damned if I am going to buy a camera that has a four digit price tag.

My phone has a 3.2 MP camera with 3x optical zoom, and a swiveling display. Granted I spent $600 for it but damn if it doesn't help me get awesome upskirt shots. :P :naughty:  In all seriousness though you're going to find the majority of 1 MP plus cameras on cellphones, with cheap models going for ~$100
