Ah. I've been avoiding that. The art that I've seen from them doesn't interest me in the slightest. Though....there was one...I forget what it was. Prisinor of Immortal (looked it up). Everything else just looks too...unprofessional...IMO. The covers reminds me of some of the lower class web comics I've read before. It's not at my book store, and I'm not curious enough to order it from their site or the web...so...yup.

I've heard bad things about them from those who have bought and read them.

I haven't actually read any of them myself, but some of the ones they sell look horrible (Kingdom of Selfish Love...Excorcisms and Pogo Sticks...).
I just looked at their more recent stuff and it looks better and the artwork is more pleasing to the eye. Some parts still look unprofessional, but there is a definite improvement.

Back in the days I was starved for good yaoi, I pre-ordered Kingdom of Selfish Love. I was expecting great things. I was very disapointed.

The art was too simple and confusing (what the hell was that with his uncle?!?), where most of the characters looked like girls. The plots in the short stories had so many plot holes, you could drive trucks through them. And the sex scenes were nothing special, usually two characters cupped together. I disliked it so much it was the first manga I gave an F.

I gave Yaoi Press one more chance with Prisoner of the Immortal. Of the three stories, I gave the middle story a C, the story of a priest sent to a planet to help the human settlers deal with a bunch of demons. It was an okay plot. The other two stories turned my stomach. The first story did not have a happy ending and the plot had rape and character death. The last story had torture and murder. I did not like any of the characters and the dialogue was worse than a Hong Kong Sub. Overall, I gave the book a D.

I'm personally staying away from this publisher. It's no problem now that the market is finally opening up to "good" yaoi (DMP, June, Blu, Kitty, Be Beautiful, etc).

Instead of gathering dust on my bookshelf, I sold them both on E-bay to some poor...buyer. *evil laugh*

Haha, I've heard mostly such bad things about those books there's no point in even trying. I would be open to reading one, but only if I hear almost all positive reviews... and I doubt that's ever going to happen. Their art doesn't look bad for some of their newer stuff... but wow, Excorcisms and Pogo Sticks? I'm not sure you could pay me to look at it.

I've really hated everything I've bought from yaoi press. It's all so badly done!
