Hi,
I have herad a lot about bleach and from what i have seen it looks really good and i was thinking about byeing it when it comes out in december but then i find out that it runs for around 100 episodes -_-;
So what im asking is are there a lot of filler episodes or only a few as there must be some episodes were nothing happens and is it worth buying?
Now i now you like it but do you like it enough to bye god knows how many disks?
I have never got a 100 episode anime before and im a bit intimidated at how many disks i would need to bye but i would if bleach is worth it.
Thanks for any help you give and please no spoilers

The introductory mini-arc and the first major story arc are largely filler-free. Once you get to the end of the first major arc, the filler kicks in... and how. Unfortunately, it's kind of sucking at the moment, but the manga is still good.
The pacing isn't as slow as Naruto, or DBZ, so you don't need to worry about too many episodes where nothing happens. It isn't finished yet, so it's hard to say how much there will be. 100 episodes looks like it might be a conservative estimate.

to me, bleach is not worth buying, unless your a collector. The series is to long and frankly, it would be really expensive. So I recomend renting it... even though you can watch it on TV.
I'd check to make sure a few volumes of the DVD are out before renting too.

Well i live in england so if i dont bye it then i can forget about seeing it for good.
lol about me saying its only 100 episodes long :P looks like i wont bye it if its still being made as i really like dragonball z but byeing around 70 disks is just too much for me both in money and who wants 70 disks around of the same anime when you could have about 12 normal animes for the same cost as dragonball Z
Such a pitty as it did look good but maybe i only saw the best bits.

Bleach is Probably going to be allot more then 100 episodes. Which means allot of DVDs.

At this point, there's no 'official' R1 release either so you're not alone. I'm not sure about England (which is European R2 discs).
Viz is putting out the first volume of episodes on DVD this November from what I recall reading in a press release upon licensing. (this was in conjunction with its announced CN / Adult Swim airing), but this will only be R1 so far. Also as stated, it's going to be a looooong show...100+ episodes easily, so you'd have to be a die-hard fanatic to buy into it.
Give it time, there'll be something I'm sure. Bleach is too popular to NOT give it the DVD treatment.

I'd recommend waiting for box sets, since its going to be long. I'm betting Bleach will be at least 200 episodes when all is said and done.
Viz will release box sets eventually, but it will be a while. The first box set will probably come out early 2008 at the earliest.

Doesn't seem expensive to me, buying 1 DVD every couple of months? $20 every 2 months. I guess if you don't work, then maybe I could see where it would be a problem. I love Bleach, and will definitely be picking up the first DVD in November.

One DVD every couple of months may not seem expensive, but it really adds up. Especially if you buy other DVDs and manga already.

It's a fun series, but I wouldn't spend my money. There's little replay value (which is the only reason I buy DVDs normally), it's a good series, but it does drag occasionally and as has been mentioned, there is a long filler arc that is still currently running. On top of that, you can probably rent or download the series for a much smaller investment.
And finally, you buy DVDs, bye is what you say when you are leaving.

Worth purchasing? No way.
Bleach up until episode 73 or so was a great anime, one of my more favorites, and if it ended in that amount of episode I would buy the series. But it's still going and we are at 96 or 97 as of today and still in the filler. If it weren't for the filler I'd say go for it but why one earth would anyone want to spend $100s of dollars on filler?
If there was a way to buy the series boxed up until the filler I would do it, but since it won't happen I suggest renting it if your desperate or just download it. Frankly, it's not even worth downloading at this point...

While the box sets which the Soul Society arc and the next arc (whenever it starts) will probably contain some of the filler, you will still be able to skip most of it. And you could always just buy the single DVDs of what you want instead of box sets that contain a lot of filler episodes.
That's what I plan on doing. Assuming they go with 26 episode box sets, that means I'll buy the first three and then skip at least the next one, possibly two depending on how long the filler goes.
